3S-GE/FE rings = same as 2JZ rings

Digging up an old thread - but I've been waiting for a local New Zealand supplier to get in stock the 2JZ rings. They still haven't and they don't know when they'll get them in.

Toyota New Zealand want $500 for a set of rings
So I'm starting to wonder, would there actually be anything different between the make up and quality of the 3S rings and the 2JZ ones? They are the same size, and have the same end gap of 0.016 and 0.018 and the top is a moly ring.
Do rings come in different quality standards? I mean, there's even a Mazda ring that's almost half the price of the 3S rings that are much the same as well!
