I hoping I can get a few ideas here as to what is wrong. Here is my story:
Yesterday I finally got my rebuild ready to fire up. It was turning over but wasn't starting. After checking my codes I had a 51 and a 41... TPS. I adjusted my TPS, cleared my codes, and tried again. VAROOM! :biglaugh...
I just spent $60 on insulators and grommets for 6 injectors. $4.80 a piece for each. Is that normal? Why can't there be a Champion Toyota where I live.
When I was taking off the hood, I placed them in the rain drain galley at the bottom of the windshield for safe keeping until I could carry the hood elsewhere. But somehow bumped the bolt and it went rolling down into the rain drain hold in the corner (see picture). So where does this drain go...
So as part of my rebuild, I'm thinking I should try improve the oil system to help avoid future rod knock. I decided not to shim oil pump because it doesn't start opening until 40psi anyway. I did put in a brand new oil pump in though. So instead I thought I'd stop the unnecessary dumping of oil...
Is there a complete oil filter relocation kit for sale somewhere that includes everything I need? Preferably with provision for adding an oil temp gauge. I've seen some "kits" but they didn't have everything needed.
So I need a new transmission. The only one I can find near me is from an 88T but it doesn't have the ABS sensor. Does anyone know if there is a way to take the ABS sensor from my old R154 transmission and put it in the non-ABS transmission?
Machine shop took 0.35mm off block and 0.1mm off head. The head has been rebuilt once with an unknown amount taken off. I got my machine shop to measure the head but it didn't match up to the size listed on here at all so I don't know what points were used to measure. I've heard 116mm on here...
It's a SPEC 3 clutch and a Fidanza flywheel. My clutch looks all messed up after only ~2000km. It looks like theres a good layer of dirty grease on everything (you can see my finger scraped some of it off the middle of the flywheel). It looks like there was either too much grease on the...
I can't seem to get the old gasket off my throttle body. It's stuck on there good. I can only get a tiny pit out of it off at a time. Is there any solvent I can use to loosen it up?
I'm putting a metal head gasket in my engine. I'd like to get an HKS head gasket (bead or stopper) but I cannot find anywhere what it officially requires for surface smoothness (ie RA). Does anyone know what RA HKS says they require? Or know where to find such specs?
I will get it as smooth...
I remember reading that when rebuilding a 7M your should put a new oil pump in. I am wondering, is this really necessary? What wears out in an oil pump?
I want to change my stock head gasket to a metal head gasket before turning up the boost but I don't know what size of head gasket to get. When I bought my car used, I was told that the head had been rebuilt, so I would assume it was shaved down a bit. The problem is, I don't know how much was...
I mean, how to do you physically get at those screws? The top one is easy, but I have to take off the ISC valve to get at the bottom one. Anyone have a trick?
I took my glove box out, placing the screws in nicely labeled zip-lock bags as I went along, and then put all the small zip-lock bags into a big zip-lock bag so they were all collected in one place... and then I lost the big zip-lock bag.
Does anyone know how to figure out what size of screws...
