very interesting how you have reinforced it. I may try something similar. The idea I had in my head was real close to that. I guess I will let you guys know how well it holds up after a few hard launches this season.
I like the Centerforce Dual Friction. I love the holding power. I have dyno'd 410ftlb and I have sprayed a 150hp shot at the track on it. It is EXTREMELY streetable. I love the RPS but for a street car I highly recommend this Centerforce. Remember it is the ORANGE pressure plate, not the gold one.
The first car that I had these issues with, gave a knocking sound like a center support bearing noise. I lifted the car up and the cradle was cracked in about 7 different spots. We replaced the cradle and welded strips of steel over the spots where the cradle had cracked. I run into this issue...
When I first put mine together, I had a similar noise. My noise sounded like it was coming from the head (valve noise or other). I was enraged when I first heard the noise and feared having to tear the engine back down. So in my anger, I turned the boost up to 20psi and tore up the road like a...
Check wastegate. If available install a boost controller to try to turn the boost down. More than likely though, you are going to end up installing a FCD or something else to get around the fuel cut. The modded turbo I believe is the source of this problem. In the past, I have turned up the...
I have had my head decked several times. I am only using a 1.2mm MLS head gasket. And since decking the block .028" and going to the MLS I havent had any overheating issues nor any preignition issues at high boost Like I was expecting.
I am unsure exactly. But the EMS has a constant 12V output just for the fuel pump. I am running my fuel pump off a 12v switched source for fuel cutoff safety reasons, instead of running from the EMS. Check your manual, but I do believe that the EMS is constant 12v
Mount as close to the TB as possible. It will be more efficient and louder, I had a customer mount his pre-intercooler and had experienced some "funky" issues and I moved the bov to a proper location and it cured it.
I don't remember ever running into any problems with the CPS swap but I am unsure of the TPS and the coil packs do interchange ( I have a spare set of those from an 89 for my 88)
Well the NA auto tranny I had lasted one pass, while the turbo versions lasted a weekend. That is until I figured the cooling issue out, so I don't know what exactly is different, but there is something different between the two. I was laying down about 430whp with 500ftlb and spraying 150hp...
Well john has alot of interesting stuff on his site whenever it gets up. He has even got a car he put twin stock intercoolers on, because he didn't want to spend money on a true upgraded intercooler.
My first MKIII I ran it at 28psi daily!!!! That is before I realized the problems with HOT AIR after 18psi. I am sure that if you have upgraded intercooler and piping you should be able to run up to 22psi daily and be efficient about it.
Your 400hp request can be easily achieved by boost controller, HKS FCD, 3" exhaust. Run 18psi on a stock setup and you will be impressed. No need to spend bunches of money until you are trying to achieve 500whp.
Go ahead with new oil pump, which is normally a no brainer when rebuilding an engine. I would shot peen the rods, maybe knife edge the crank, and install .020 over pistons to clean up the cylinders and bring compression back. Use a MLS or copper head gasket (A MUST!!!) oversized valves are not...
