What piston is better Probe or Wisseco?

The noise issue particularly has a lot to do with piston material. There are two basic aluminum alloys used in piston manufacturing, 2618 and 4032. Both of them have their advantages. 2618 is normally just used for race cars, mainly because the higher silicon content increases the expansion rate...

One awesome supra on the dyno.

Maybe cause the auto/converter? I've seen cars make 350hp on the dyno, but can go out and run a low 9 second pass easy. Either way, its a bad ass car.

    Mahle 7M pistons

Yeah, we used to do a lot of work with them on custom applications, at my previous employer. We've used Mahle on anything from 300-25oohp:evil2:; extremely good quality, thats why im so interested in them. IJ/bmoss- Where did you guys get them?? Or, do you still have them??? Thanks...

    Mahle 7M pistons

Greetings, I stumbled across this website v-eight.com, which has really good tech info on intake manifold design, engine tips, calculations etc, etc. But I also found a post that had these Mahle 7M pistons:love: on display, now I think these were used in the GrpA engines, correct? I guess...

DOWARD: Bryan Maloof's Shop, Rods/Pistons setup

FYI...Next time (if there is a next time) you design a piston, I would like to be a part of it. I've put many long hours at Livernois Motorsports, in regards to piston design. And I know of a company that is more than willing to help out with the manufacturing aspect. Thanks!!!:icon_razz

Two 351W's, and four 4.6 mod motors. Dont get me wrong, they hold up, but overall they were not a good design

DOWARD: Bryan Maloof's Shop, Rods/Pistons setup

My personal experiences have been anything but good with Probe pistons. I've never built a 7M with probe pisotns, but I have built quite a few "budget" minded builds on V8's with probe pistons. Each one had a really awkward skirt profile; the wear pattern was never the same on any of the...

    Most bullet proof rods

"Al rods are a throwaway after xx hours, not sure about you but I'd hate the last 10 hours of their lifespan!" Correct, I understand that, but as i said "not for street, of course". Aluminum rods do not really have a problem at a durability standpoint (considering a good tune), its just the...

    Most bullet proof rods

Oliver Billet steel, absolutely one of the best rods I have ever used. Much alike in strength and quality as compared to a Carillo, just a lot cheaper. For a set of custom length rods for a SB Ford, they costed $1,100. Which is not bad seeing they hold 1,263hp on low boost, and occasional...

    Oops, not a Mk3...

I dont know, for some reason I just cant "get into" drifting. I understand the concept, but I just dont see the fun in it. Maybe its because I was born and raised in the Motor City, and am surrounded by muscle cars and drag racing constantly. But props on the video and a very nice car btw! I...

    Exhaust manifold temperature

Hmmmmm, Id go with a tubular manifold, the stainless steel looks bad ass when it gets hot, and you dont have to worry about paint coming off.......lol, jk. I think it all depends on how much you want to spend. Id go with ceramic coating if you can afford it, a good place that does coatings is...
