    3P's TCCS Disassembly/Analysis

Perhaps to keep the energy level on the rise, I too have been running the 3P ECU in my car for the last two years. I'm also running the Lexus AFM with software calibration but with RC 550 cc/min injectors (and many other modifications). The car runs flawlessly, to the point that I can't...

    3P's TCCS Disassembly/Analysis

Being the one who performed the modeling work that 3p is referring to, I completely concur with these statements. I will complete the documentation of my modeling work and share that with the community shortly so people can understand the underlying reasons for why problems arise when using the...

    Boss Jr. 57 Trim Sleeper

Sorry, unfortunately these days I have far more projects than time available. The other reason is the problem is likely dried up rubber parts, of which I would have to do some searching to find replacments. Your best bet may be to find the newer 15 pin unit like I used from a MKIV since they...

    Boss Jr. 57 Trim Sleeper

I finished up all the stereo work today. I ripped out all the aftermarket equipment mentioned above and am still using a 16804 externally amplified CD head unit. The one I have is date coded 1994, and has a 15 pin connector. I also have a 16801 CD head unit, date coded 1990, which looks...

No, I have the one that mounts to the exhaust manifold installed. The lower one called "Turbocharger Stay" and the upper one called "No. 2 Turbocharger Stay" in the TSRM cannot be installed because there are no mounting bosses on the turbine housing of the Boss Jr. turbo for them.

Nope, I had to omit the bottom brace. I was never really sure about the turbo selection for this build. I went back and forth between the Boss Jr. and the Greddy TD06 kit. I sort of wish I had gone with the Greddy kit, but I also know that would have come with its own host of issues too.

    Boss Jr. 57 Trim Sleeper

It has been so long I had to remember what I did, and was able to find the photo below. Basically, the heat shield is held on by the fastener in the elbow and the top turbo stay, which is only attached to the heat shield, not the turbo. So, the heat shield is only mounted on two points instead...

Thank you very much for the information 3p141592654. The TSRM is unusually vague about those details. Do you know what the part number is, both face plate and top sticker, for the correct 89-92 head unit? I believe the correct amplifier is either a 86280-14240 or 86280-14241, but am not sure...

    Boss Jr. 57 Trim Sleeper

Well, my car now shows 62,685 miles on the odometer. I spend far more time cleaning it than driving it, but oh well. There are two things that have been bugging me that I'm finally getting around to working on. 1) Replace the Lexus AFM with a HKS VPC. After having tried everything, I'm...

Eh, too busy with grad school. I finished the stereo over the winter, but ran into issues. I'm using a 93-94 ish MKIV head unit coupled to an Arc audio 4 channel mini amp. In the doors are Dynaudio 6.5" mids with Morel tweeters in custom fiberglass enclosures (all stealth) running through...

    Brian Crower or Ferrea???

For a 500 rwhp engine, valvetrain modifications would not be my priority. Make sure everything meets OEM specs and spend your money elsewhere.

    Bad bushings

Just look around for shops that have a decent alignment machine and more importantly a competent tech that actually cares. My local Toyota dealer has both. That said, if your car has lived its whole life in your current location, I'd be willing to bet your bushings are fine. Take it...

    ARP Studs...

I couldn't find the sheet that came with my ARP studs in the 2001 time frame, but I remember for sure that the spec was 90 ft-lbf with moly lube. That said, I've been involved in some testing of fastener preload as a function of applied torque at work. As we found and is backed up by the...

Everything over the net. I don't drive to the store for anything these days unless I absolutely need it that day, it's not worth my time and the cost of gas. Of course, I also live in the middle of nowhere.

I think there's parts on the car from just about every single vendor out there. On some items, like the intercooler kit, there were big differences in prices; that item came from Titan. The turbo and exhaust all came from Suprasport, and they were excellent to work with. Other parts have come...

It might seem obvious, but check all the ground straps, especially the one to the coilpack.

How the heck do you fit the center console over the ABS ECU? *PICS*

That's not the ABS ECU, that's the airbag ECU. 89 and older cars did not have an airbag or the associated ECU, and their center console well was therefore deeper. You need a center console from a 90-92.

Correct. I prefer the layout, design and size of the Greddy kit over the HKS kit. The Greddy pipe (and intercooler inlet/outlet) is 60mm. The HKS 3000 pipe is 70mm OD, so I just needed a 60mm to 70mm expansion coupling. Those are about impossible to find, but luckily 2-3/8" to 2-3/4" units...
