    Crooked Suspension

That's a good idea, and I wouldn't mind replacing my 17-year-old bushings anyway. I think I'm going to pull both rear shock/spring assemblies to get a better look and also to adjust the shock heights with greater ease. Has anyone else had this problem?

    Crooked Suspension

The other week, I noticed my rear tires were worn very unevenly. Since then, I have noticed that my car's stance looks a little crooked. So yesterday I decided to walk around the car and check the gaps between each tire and the top of the outside wheel well. Sure enough, my left rear side is...

    maftpro is working

Since I'm not yet knowledgable enough to control timing, this is what I find most useful. I assume when you say "unplug my O2 sensors" you are just talking about the stock narrowband sensor which would cause it to run in open loop all the time and read off the wideband. If so, do you...

    Pre-made Boost Leak Tester

I can see how plugging the system at the TB would simply test the intercooler and IC pipes, but when the TB plate is open, doesn't the intake manifold and everything connected to it withstand the same boost pressure? So if I held the TB open and pressurized the entire intake system to my...

    starter brushes

When I asked Curt Aigner at Elmhurst Toyota, he said starter rebuild kits were only available for MKIV's and that it is cheaper to buy a remanufactured starter than to rebuild it yourself. Keep in mind that this is the dealership talking, but he's usually a reliable source of information...

    Boost Gauge Question

It looks like he took the silver bezel off the gauge to make make it fit. I am thinking about doing the same thing.

    A/C removal?

Note that it takes about as long to remove the evaporator from behind the dash as it does to remove the rest of the A/C system. And then you end up with a good size hole in the firewall and an evaporator that looks much heavier than it actually is.

replacing head gasket. have a question

You can get to all the headbolts with the cams still on there, but you might have to turn the cam gear just a bit to get to 2 or 3 of them depending on how the cam is positioned. Then just be careful when you are setting the head down after it is off, so you do not bend or damage the valves...

    Mystery wire

Yes, ALWAYS disconnect the battery before messing around with wires otherwise you are going to see a lot more sparks flying.

    Mystery wire

You may have blown a fuse when "sparks were flying." But the "visible problem" there is that those wires both connect to the alternator and they are obviously not connected. The big one plugs right into the back of it (you cannot mistake where it goes) and the other one is clamped down by a...

    Fuel Pulsation Dampener

I always suspected there was supposed to be a screw in that thing. Mine must have loosened all the way out a long time ago. So, if that screw adjusts it, I would naturally assume that mine is about as far out of adjustment as possible. What negative effects might this be causing? (as compared...

    Re-using an un-used headgasket

I didn't need to remove the hardlines, but I was scrubbing and cleaning the sides of the block while I waited on some parts. At the time, it was just easier to take them off to clean everything.
