How is everyones 1JZ holding up after +-25 years?

The headgasket was half-way gone on my single turbo when I bought it 7 years ago and the valve seals were 'going bad'. I finally toasted the gasket completely about a year later. I did the headgasket, normal maintenance stuff, hand lapped the valves, and pulled the tiny pieces of the rotting...

    aftermarket cams in a 1jzgte

The Brian Crower's are notorious for having the 'timing' pin incorrect on them, even though they tell you just to install them straight up and run them. Tried that, I actually run one of mine a tooth back on the adjustable cam gear now after taking the valve covers back off and degreeing them...

Will 1jz stock valvetrain suit BC 264's?

Moves the band forward more. Boost comes on more gradually and doesn't "hit" like a freight train like the stock cams. Full boost comes on later. Pulls harder and harder until 7600 which is my limiter, Im sure it would go just as hard to 8k.

lots of lag, low on power...can't figure this out

I definitely would have an adjustable FPR on there. Helps a lot to adjust base pressure to match your fuel curve. I basically have mine where I am just pulling basically nothing up top. (I have no boost cut) At that point I have to pull high -2Xs at idle but I have a 2J ecu. If it's not the FPR...

1Jz with 550's and AR.70 turbo with upgraded fpr on safc 2

From first hand experience, the ECUs on my setup have not significantly changed WOT (open loop) fuel tuning over time, which is where it matters if you don't want to blow it up. Been driving a 1JZ 350-500whp on an SAFC on different Toyota ECUs for years now. It will try to continually correct...

    Turbo hitting frame

I've got two .5" T4 flanges welded together and used as a spacer between the turbo and manifold to clear the frame rail. Precision 6376 with the big H cover. It all depends on your manifold design I guess. I could use another inch honestly, I bought a 90* elbow to weld on to the compressor...

A lot has changed since I've been involved with the Supra community.

I have 285/35s rear and 265/40s (wanted 35 but got a deal on them) up front on the new wheel setup going on. I have had 295 on a 18x9.5+22 in the rear and it completely destroyed my tire when I hit some random terrible construction one day, that's what made me roll the fender soon after...

    Wheel Fitment & Question Thread

18x9.5 +22 You need a good pull and probably a little too much camber to really fit them. If you hit a rough patch of road and your tire goes into the arch area, it will still rub with a full roll. Didn't really bother me, we have mostly good roads here. +30-35ish offset may have cleared...

A lot has changed since I've been involved with the Supra community.

I have the uglier twin of your car! And I as soon as I get a set of toe arms in the mail, I will be putting these wheels on. I have been restoring them. They are 18x9 + 42, I am very curious do you remember the size and offset of your wheels? Im not sure how mine are going to fit yet...

    1JZ Fuel Question

550cc MKIV injectors will handle the power you are going for, and they plug into the stock rail. I've done 437whp on them with an Aristo ECU and an SAFC. I've done higher than that, probably 500ish, but not on a dyno. I wouldn't push the Walbro and the 550s past 450whp-ish just to have a little...

ADD W1 oil catch can PICS

Maybe make an extremely tiny hole in the bottom to let water drain very slowly or maybe attach a bare wire from the header/flange to the bottom of the can to boil the water off. That last one will take some thermal testing heh but it'd be cool.

What experiences have you had using your brake set-up (pads in specific)

EBC Reds on both of my street cars. They work great on the street and I have never pushed hard enough on the street or autocross to fade them and I do some spirited driving. Low dust and ceramic. Awesome pads with no complaints, will use them forever on the street. Still haven't gotten a...

Are human beings this ignorant? A strut brace rant.

Haha! I bought one because after driving with the targa top off the first time, I figured the more pieces of metal I had tying one side of the car to the other, the better

Anyone running new cx racing 1jz t4 manifold?

I have a drewgo and also had to raise my turbo by stacking a welded flange to clear a large compressor (had to cut up the compressor outlet as well), and the position of the wastegate itself might be ok, but the position of the actual to-wastegate pipe off a single exhaust runner creates some...

    1jz oil consumption quandary

Those cam sensors leak all the time, normal and won't cause that much oil loss, also the oil would be all over the engine and on to the ground. I would fill the oil up to a certain point exactly on a completely cold car, let him drive it for awhile (weeks) checking periodically just to make...

    1JZ Mustang Dyno numbers

Seems like good numbers to me for just 11lbs of boost. Good job, good luck with the car.

    1jz head gasket?

1JZ headgaskets do fail. The only symptom I had was a little overheating on long cruises, which I put down to a 20 year old radiator and half-working hydro-fan because everyone told me it couldn't be the headgasket. Well that theory went out the window when I was having a little fun light to...

Stop Buying From Ebay Sellers - SSAutoChrome, XS Power & the MANY other names used

Bad communication always seems to be the first sign of a business going bad. Like IJ, I have seen it many times within the car communities themselves, so you have to be careful. I think there are people who may have talent at making car parts, but zero talent and/or drive to run an actual...
