A few years ago I installed a narrowband on my miata and didn't ground it right. Ran riiiiiiich. Had no power until 4000 rpms then it took off. So yea, maybe its a ground issue you're having?

I had nitrous on mine, worked wonderfully. Only reason it knocked is because my dumbass boosted hard on a qt low.
