Hey guys, Rollus has the code i started with the interrupts and timing calcs in it. Feel free to make use of it as you please. If any one wants a copy, pm me your email address (piratetip).
I still have the bench top setup to demo on so I am happy to continue that portion of the project. Car...
Hey Reynald, Shoot me a pm if you want to take a look at the code i wrote. No sense in starting from scratch! Please do keep this going. I moved things over to atmel studios 6 too if you are familiar with that.
Current limiting of the ignition coil is the only real hurdle I can forsee. I...
bit of a redirect. The short coming of the 'one step behind' operation is hard to get around. 3p has a viable solution, actually two. The easiest being to mimic the stock ignitor and provide ample time to charge. Basically redoing the power side and changing the current limit the ignitor will...
Are you saying that there is a decrease in timing of 4 degrees after you added 15% from the AFM signal?
What rpm range is this in?
What rpm are you adding or removing 40% from the AFM signal?
The lexus bypass screw is only good for +/-1% of the airflow going through the meter. The screw is most likely used during manufacturing to fine tune the karman vortex sensor to the housing. Which is why you cant get the housing and sensor separate.
^ essentially yes, but with a twist. The coil start to charge, or on signal has to be generated completely. Nothing in the stock ecu will work for that. Thanks for the support. I hope to see it through as well!
The BOM is not finalized yet. I started with the well known atmel 328p used in...
Waiting on terminals to build a jumper harness. Picked up a 6 channel 'dumb' ignitor from a 1994-1995 camry. Tach and IGF are built in. Tested regulators and so far everything I have on paper or the bread board is working as it should. Adding all of this to my car and ecu to test with stock...
not 100% sure. A lot of the costs will be in how the end product is mounted. An internally mounted version keeps cost down by using the ecu peripherals and wiring. An external version requires more PCB space and additional circuitry + some form of case and connector. I can build both styles...
Thanks guys, the idea is to produce these in small numbers once any future kinks are worked out. No eta, but sooner rather than later! Goal is to keep this project affordable.
Demo board testing is under way. Good results so far. Response to changes in timing is working as expected. Below are...
More success. One last timer to add in the code and then on to board layout! So far everything has bench tested perfectly. Hope to have a proto board setup for testing in parallel with the stock ignitor sometime next week.
The stock tccs wont work with the DH61 by itself. or any other ignitior that I know of. In order to us the DH61, we need some variation of the code I have been working on. My goal is to convert the tccs signals to a form that allows any 'dumb' ignitor to be used with the stock tccs. Then we can...
Small success in getting main portion of the code working. About 25% there for a programmable ignitor for the stock TCCS. The biggest hurtle is coming up with a coil ON signal. Nothing out of the stock tccs can be used for this so it has to be calculated based on the previous ignition event...
The DH61 looks perfect then. IGT/IGA/IGB would all be converted to the 3 signals needed for the DH61 ignitor. I can replicate the tach and IGF signals but no need with that. Hopefully there is no current limiting going on. We need about 8-9 amps for both coils in series from what I can find on...
Yes but its has to be taken a step further. The power stage or high current drivers can be setup in several ways. Using the DH61 is one option. The signals to control that ignitor are what the stock ecu lacks. Thats what Im working on. Hopefully will have the code running on a development...
Would it be worth it to you guys to have an ignitor with programmable dwell? Could make better use of these coils and possibly add drivers to fire them in waste spark but with one coil per driver, like the 2jz ignitor but with multiplexed input.
Will be testing the code for this for my own use...
Added charge times and current curves to the second post. Will add more observations when I have time. Maybe a few of you guys with more knowledge can take a look at the burn time/line and oscillations.
Jon is the human form of an algebrator. If only he had more ram..
The EU map has more timing advance. Do you guys have emissions in France?
That area is the cruise, and light load region. The changes in timing on the low end make a noticeable difference in throttle response and take off...
