Save yourself the frustration and get some masking tape and a sharpie and label all the connectors and hoses/vacuum lines. It's easier than trying to remember where it all went once it's all disconnected, if your unsure to begin with. That's what I do, LOL.
Does anyone know of a thread that tells you how position the cams and time the 1jz? I'm in the process of putting my motor back together and this is my next task.
Do I just put the cam gears on, then position the cams with the mark facing straight up and put cylinder #1 at TDC?
Thanks.
Go buy a 6pt 1/2in drive 22mm craftsman socket (one of the black ones used for impact guns) and use a breaker bar. Don't use a cheap off brand breaker bar because it will likely break. I snapped mine at the swivel, so I got a craftsman and gave it a good whack with a dead blow hammer and that...
Does anyone know the torque specs for the 1JZ camshaft bolts?
I'm in the process of changing my cam seals and putting the cams back in.
I'm posting this on my iPhone, so it's too much of a hassle to search through a bunch of threads.
Thanks.
Edit: Does 15lbs sound right? That's what I...
Damn, now I gotta add that to my list. I was going to change my ignition ring color, now I gotta do the locks too. Thanks for posting that, I had no idea about the locks.
LOL. Thats creative. I finally got it off though. I let it soak with PB Blaster, then took a 1/2 inch drive ratchet to it along with a big ass pipe for extra leverage. It took two people to hold the engine in place and to keep it from lifting up on the stand, and one person working the ratchet.
My engine is on the engine stand, but i have a wrench jammed between 2 old flywheel bolts to lock it up. It is a normal right hand thread right? Thats what i was told. I first thought it might have been a left handed reverse thread. Thank for the help. I guess i will go buy another breaker bar. Lol.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm in the middle of tearing down my 1JZ and I'm having the hardest time getting the bolt for the harmonic balancer broke lose. I just snapped a half inch drive breaker bar so now im stumped. Is there some sort of trick to this or what? Any help is...
PLEASE stay away from Maaco. I've been looking for a place to take my Nova and I'm expecting to pay around $4000 because I don't have the proper equipment to replace my quarter panel skins, and it needs some body work. I took it to Maaco and they quoted me around $1800 because they wouldn't do...
