Sorry to be that guy that brings back the thread from the dead but have you noticed any similar issues since you replaced the afm? My car has almost the exact same symptoms you described and replacing the afm didn't work for me, so I guess what I'm really after is how you found the input signals...
On my 7m, the clutch release point was just about at the top of the pedal stroke for the whole time I owned the car (about a year). I tried adjusting the free play with the rod but it didn't help. Then one day the slave cylinder gave out. I replaced the slave with an Aisin brand cylinder from...
Last Friday afternoon I spotted a dark grey MK3 heading west on I90 right after the I405 interchange. Unfortunately I didn't get a good look at it because I was riding back seat in my buddy's truck heading the other direction in the express lane.
Anyways...
After replacing the TPs, zeroing the SAFC, pulling the EFI fuse, and then going for a drive, the problem remains unchanged. When I rechecked codes I got 41 and 43 again... however, no 51. I'm not sure why the 41 keeps popping up, maybe the SAFC has something to do with it?
Another...
The bov is the factory recirculating one and the afm is stock as well. To my knowledge, the injectors are also stock. I was thinking that the injectors could just be getting worn out but the motor is one of those low mile JDM motors and so would they really be bad at this point?
Also, I...
At idle my car runs lean at around 17 afr and while just driving around it runs between 14.7 and 16.0 afr. Under boost it runs in the mid 13's. It also has an inconsistant idle that falls somewhere between 600 and 1000 rpm.
I don't know if this is related to the problem above but after i...
Just thought I'd clear everything up now that I have the problem solved. As it turns out, the AFM was not as stock as i thought it was, causing my engine to run so lean that it would cut out. After installing an OEM AFM (and replacing the headgasket that blew due to my lead foot and lean A/F...
yes it idles smoothly but i did not test the afm. I know that the afm is good because it came off a car that ran perfectly. did your wire look bad? because from what i can tell all my wires are fine.
I just thought I'd clarify the symptoms so here's what the car is doing now:
hesitates and then lurches foreward starting at about 2500 rpm and continues to redline (acceleration is more like a step staircase than smooth slope)
aside from the unfluent acceleration, car seems to have the same...
I'm beginning to doubt if the problem is a boost leak. I was convinced that it was until I replaced the intercooler hoses with the metal ones that came with an aftermarket intercooler that I got when i bought the car. The problem had not changed at all. The car still lurches forward when driving...
I got a new AFM and so the rpms no longer drop when I give it gas. However, the car seems to have trouble building boost. It luggs at around 3000 rpm and the boost gauge doesn't read anything. I was thinking that it could be a boost leak but i've tightened down all the clamps and the hoses still...
