Sorted the manifold leak but its still loud, and it still sounds like its coming from the head. However from watching around on Youtube, it sounds like it could be main bearing failure. I'll be pulling it out this weekend to tear it down and look.

As I've said its still normal oil pressure. I won't be able to run it again until Monday, I didn't get to NAPA in time to get the oil filter. -_-

Why what is that a sign of? When I pulled spark plug wires the noise got equally quiet for each one. I checked clearances today stone cold and they were all within spec. It just seems too rattly/tinny/rhythmic to be knock because when it was knocking last time it was a deep "KNOCK" and it didn't...

When I held it around 2500 the noise got quieter, completely nonexistent at idle. I'll be checking clearances today.

Also, this noise started when I switched to using a lighter oil (10w-30 from 15w-40). Could this be the cause?

Actually I have one hooked up to the manifold and I remember at idle it was always around 25in Hg.

This is why I love living in the southeast. Go to a mom n pop style shop and they'll weld up something for less than $150!

As long as the clutch fits and the pressure plate provides the right torque on it there shouldn't be a problem. The throwout bearing should line up just fine.

Yeah it looks daunting now but targas are great so stick with it!
