Why are 90% of the MKIIIs that I see for sale here, and on other sites, junked out pieces of shit? Almost every single one is a 'project', or the engine runs fine, but the exterior looks like dogshit.
I weep.
That's retarded. Toyota never put a V8 in the MKIII, nor was it ever designed to have one, so why does it matter? You're expending just as much (if not more) time, money and energy to shoehorn in an engine that has far less power, and far less support just to say that you have a Toyota engine...
The "baller" 4 valve engine is also larger, wider, makes far less power stock, has far less potential without dumping a huge amount of money into it, and still costs a fuck-load of money to stuff into a Supra.
You bought a 24 year old sports car with a shot engine and electrical issues? Ahahaha, good luck.
Anyway, buying a JDM engine can be pretty risky, and some of that depends on the vendor. As in, what kind of documentation do they have as to what vehicle the engine came out of, and do they...
If I'm going for performance, it's going to be a JZ swapped car. The 7m isn't a bad engine, but I just don't have to deal with all of its potential issues. I'll pay a premium for a JZ car that was built correctly.
