Yes the crank timing belt gear is pricey, I think I remember it being around $200 but I could be wrong. I know for sure that I was very surprised at how much it was. I had to replace mine that had been damaged. I highly doubt that there is any damage on your gear that is causing your crank...
Has anyone made a discovery as to the root cause of this cold knock issue?
I have a low mileage 1jz and over the past 3 years the cold knocking has gotten a little worse. By worse I mean it will last longer (3 min instead of 1 min) and it has started doing it throughout the year rather than...
This is after i got it back from Aaron at DM. He had left all the old capacitor gel on the board and just soldered on top of it. I had to do the job myself. When I asked for my money back he got angry and hung up. It must have been his time of the month.
I took this pic after I wiped the...
Check to see if Aaron actually replaced all the caps in the ECU.
I sent mine out to them two times and he fucked it up each time. I had to teach myself to do the repair. And when I asked for a refund he chewed me out and hung up.
The first time....My ecu came back without any work having...
LED lights are diodes. Light Emitting Diode, Wire it in reverse and see what happens.
------I>----- (i.e. current will travel from right to left but not left to right)
------<I-----(i.e. current will travel from left to right but not right to left)
so infinite resistance one way and...
I had a very similar issue after rebuilding my 3SGTE MR2 (metered air). Same exact condition you described. I tested the MAF meter and it checked okay. I actually cracked it open and adjusted the door and was then able to get it to operate okay until the turbo started to spin up. Took a...
Fair enough...I guess I am in the minority. I must have dealt with him while he was PMSing. Judging by the feedback odds are you won't have trouble with him. But I still would never recomend dealing with him.
Anyways, looks like you got an aswome Supra. It deffinetely is in way better...
I believe Chris was looking for SUGGESTIONS and that is exactly what I was doing
quick summary....remove fender guards, can cause rust, Dont deal with Aaron, can get f^&%$ed
I had a very very bad experienced with this guy and got screwed. I've heard the same from others. I would not suggest dealing with him. If you must, don't expect refunds for any mistakes on his end.
One mod you can do that cost nothing but time and should be done asap is to remove those fender guards above the tires. All they do is hold in debris and water and cause the quarters to rust. I bought a mint condition Supra (I thought it was mint) with those installed. This car had been...
Seriously, I had the same exact problem that you have described.
-black smoke
-would not idle on its own
-would not rev past 3500 rpm
-no power
Some steps that may help.
Remove the cover on the side with the flying lead of the ecu.
Remove the screws holding the board in place.
Gently pull...
I too sent my ecu to AARON (&*^$ for the same problem. When it came back two weeks later they had just repackaged it. So same problem. I opened up the ecu and nothing was done. There was dielectric gel all over the board under the caps. So I sent it back. When I got it back it ran for one...
I have slap in my 1J that only occurs when the outside temp is below 65 degree F. It has not gotten worst in two years and I push my car frequently. Of course I always let it warm up first and it does go away completely.
