I have searched and have a feeling that the answer maybe "yes", do the auto and 5 speed 1jz tranny have the same bellhousings? So it will work for a 2j to R 154 combo? Thanks!

I'm going to say with almost certainty, no.

The R154 and the A430E in the MA70 do not share the same bolt pattern on the transmission side of the bellhousing, and I'm almost positive the A342E from the JZA70 shares the same bolt-up method as the A340E, as I believe you use the A340E bellhousing when bolting the A342E onto the 7M.

In conclusion, I don't think so.

Unless you're asking if the 1JZ bellhousing (1JZ R154 bellhousing with R154) will bolt up to a 2JZ, in which case the answer is yes.

I was not aware the auto and 5 speed gear boxes have different bolt patterns. Thanks a lot!

No input to the Q:

Just wanted to say I love the car Ron!
(always been one of my fav Mk3's here, along with Manny's red one!)

is Ron hinting at something? Maybe a 2jz swap?
