Here's the story...

I blew my 7mgte in my car and then one of my so called buddy said I can get a 7mge motor, swap the parts from the 7mgte to the 7mge motor and it will fit the supra fine. I thought about it and it seemed a troublesome, but he was my friend, he needed the money, and he was a certified mechanic. So why not right? I ordered from www.tigerjapanese.com and the motor turned out to be an automatic, but my friend said its still doable. It's been a year and he took my money and he ignores my calls so there goes someone reliable. NOW my dad took it to one of his friends shop. He just now told me he can't do the swap, it wont fit, it wont work, etc. Too late to return the motor.

Soooooo........is he right?

it shoudn't make any difference whether it was from an auto or a manual. the engine itself is the same.

Theres no reason it shouldn't "fit". Of course you need the supporting things on it such as a manual trans ECU/harness from a post 89 if the engine is pre 89. Only difference between auto and manual is the flywheel and that's easy. If you are putting your turbo stuff on it though, you might want to think again. The NA has higher compression pistons and makes it much more susceptible to detonation at higher than stock boost, and your head gasket isnt going to last long if this is the case.

If money is short, I would do the NA-T, or else, your gonna need the ecu, wiring harness, coilpack, afm, downpipe, and whatever else doesnt come with the 7M-GE you bought. Im rocking the 7M-GE-T, running only 94 pump gas:nono:,stock boost and dont expect to last forever...

I got all the parts minus a few things from my swap, in GREAT shape, thatll I ship to you for next to nothing if you stick with the NA. But mine is a 86.5, and I hacked the harness for some plugs.

Hmm, i'll probably just tell him what you all said and keep it NA for now and later on when money piles up, ill modify it the car more.

Oil return needs to be drilled out on the GE block, other than that swap everything else over from the GTE, including the T-stat neck.

Couldnčt stay away for long eh CRE;)

Right, doing the NA-T you gotta do something for the turbo oil drain. Forgot about that. Wether it be pan or block.

You'd also need to tap a new hole for the extra knock sensor.

Whoa, whoa, whoa there!

What do you think you're doing posting all this information and such...

Haven't seen a post from you in..... months, probably.

Welcome back, buddy. :)

OP: There is no reason you can't get a working engine out of a good GE block and an old GTE...

From the sounds of it, you will need help..........and the local mechanics could use some as well. Search around for a shop that has worked on something other than a Chevy 350!

You can simply splice the 2 together at the ecu end, that's what I did and a few other na-ters I've talked to have done. No probs...

LOL <bowing gracefully>, Merely passing through... Cleaning out the mailbox and the occasional peek over everyone's heads to see where the burning smell and the sparks are coming from...

But, no... I am not back. An email from another member had a request for some help... So we've been busy conversing in the mail room. I'm off again! Andy, you know where to reach me... call, we'll go grab some coffee or lunch or w/e.
