View Full Version : Future possibility for CT26 replacement turbos?

Currently the only option offered is to bore out the compressor housing to fit a larger size wheel...but I would like to go further with the CT.(disregarding exhaust clipping)
The next step in upgrading the CT26 is changing the exhaust side (turbine) to a TO4 size wheel to match the compressor. The compressor is also upgraded to TO4 size with a large compressor wheel, or even the 60 series (bigger). The exhaust housing is modified or even replaced all together with a custom high flow housing. Turbonetics offers this type of upgrade. They have a stock style exhaust housing that will mate to a garrett center section and still keep your stock compressor housing as well.
I read about this on the net.
Is this a worthwhile upgrade and is it possible Driftmotion can make it happen?

Some turbo shops already offer upgraded exhaust housings....its not very common.

Sure, we can make one. I was already looking into it but I got sidetracked by the T4 turbo kits we started making. Now those are ironed out, we're going to start on some new additions, a bolt-on 7M turbo being one of them. Call me if you are seriously looking to get something soon, 909-630-8969
Thanks!

I plan on purchasing the 57 trim CT with some fuel goodies as well sometime this spring/summer.
I was researching CT upgrades and came across the exhaust side modifications as well.
What kind of price tag would the full blown CT upgrade have and is it worth it for the money spent?

It would be around $1k, maybe a little less, but it would be a brand new turbo with Garrett internals, 360deg thrust bearing, a new Turbonetics exhaust housing, 3" or 4" intake, 2.5" outlet, water cooled, etc....

Sounds tempting....I'll call when I'm ready to order the turbo, fuel pump, AFPR Kit and some misc items.
At that time we can discuss this turbo in further detail.
Thanks for your help!

Any chance something like this would fit on the 1JZ/CT26 Manifold you created?

What power levels would we be looking at on that? I'd love to have something capable of 5-600RWHP to compete with the BOSS I was considering so far.

The 60-1 will do 500whp, the 67mm would be able to do 600whp.

Thats good pricing. Personal question, would you guys be able to develop me some new intercooler piping to make this work with my HKS IC setup? Having to trash my 1K+ intercooler is one thing holding me back from this.

We have piping kits that can easily be installed on your setup!

Does the price $1050 for the bolt on turbos include the oil line kit in that price or is it extra?

Will it be oil and water cooled or just oil? If so, will you be selling a full bolt on type kit as an upgrade? I love myself some SS lines.

I really like this bolt on T4 setup over the upraded CT. Good thing I brought this thread up before I went ahead and got a CT57 trim.
You can expect an order for the T4 60-1 water/oil cooled, ball bearing, polished compressor side and ceramic coated exhaust side if available.
Is there going to be a 4" intake pipe for this too?

^wish it wouldn't be. Its been on the back burner for a couple years now. I remember asking about this when i had my red supra in 07. Been wanting it ever since. Would've much rather put the 600+ i spent on the 57trim through you guys on this turbo you have on the burner. I'm sure others would as well for the price you've been suggesting.
