Dropped by Kaizen yesterday, here's the result of an impromptu welding session:

1-piece intercooler charge pipe to replace the fender pipe setup I had for way too long. Big thanks to the guys at Kaizen!
Less couplers FTW!!

Here is the old setup. I will post the new pics when I get a chance to take them during the daytime.

I had to make an IC pipe for a friend this past weekend too. I actually like doing it.
The welding was easier than aluminum cause i used some china ss piping my other friend got in a kit.
A+ on the craftsmanship! i want a TIG welder soooo baddd!!!!
Much better <golf clap>
Ya gotta wonder just WTF were they thinking when they designed the stock pipes....

the pipe that goes through the fender is the worst of them all though.
Cause on a 90, the lower hose is pretty big and is smooth. the upper pipe has that one plastic piece, but thats easily replaced thanks to an exhaust shop.
but the one through the fender is truly a WTF pipe... must have been an after thought.

Here's the new pipe installed:

It snakes through to the bottom to the IC inlet on the passenger side, clearing the swaybar, foglight, clutch fan and full shroud (clearance despite not using a hydrofan), and the factory undertray (with just some minor trimming).
The IC to intake side will be redone next weekend along with a new Intake-to-turbo(s) hose accomodating an ARC JZA70 box.
Here's the intake box from when I had my ct26:

I'm pretty pleased with it now and can't wait to see the whole setup finished. Once done, this will take care of that last nagging thing in my bay that has bothered me for a while :icon_bigg

Thanks on the A+ I've been welding for a total of five months. My aluminium is getting good, my stainless steel needs alittle work. I should go take a class or something, because I enjoy doing it.

This took alittle bit of time but it came out great. if you look inside the pipe, you can see that it is smooth inside. Pie cuts FTW!

Did you back purge the pipe when you were welding it?
looks nice, but why not just get a 90 degree pipe? lol
just seems like a shit ton of work could have been saved with using some pre-made bends...

a standard alum 3" 90 bend will not clear the strut tower because the radius of the pipe bend is too wide. we could have used a 90 coupler to another odd angle coupler at the intake box. but the idea is to use straight couplers so that if any fail for whatever reason, the chances of finding a 2.5/2.75/3.00 inch straight coupler replacement is much greater than an odd 2.75-3.00 90 deg bend or whatever else in a pinch.
the stock design is the best shape in my opinion so i replicated the shape so that it could work again with mike's modified arc box. only reason why we couldn't use the stock toyota piece is because the front end of the hose angles down instead of into the box.
