Help With Oil (I Guess?) problem

I put a freshly rebuilt engine in my supra that had a complete stock rebulid done. Ran it for 20 miles before noticing the rear main seal was put in wrong (my fault) and the rear seal of the tranny was leaking (its old). So I pulled the engine to replace those two seals. Before I pulled the engine it ran GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT

I started it back up today from putting the new seals in. when I started it the exhaust shot out so much smoke I couldn't see where I was walking. I didn't have a clue WTF it was from.

I pulled the heat shield off the turbo and started ita gain... this time I saw black liquid spew out the leak between the turbo and the DP flange.

Its BLACK and VERY thin. any ideas wtf could be going on? the smoke did not smell like oil even slightly, nor does the black fluid....

When the engine was out it did stay upside down on the stand for a bit.... could that have caused this!?!?!

if it were oil, the turned upside down part could have caused it....or maybe somehow, you got water in your cylinders and it burned it and some soot off?

turbo seals? did you prime the turbo before you started the car?

flipping it upside down probably got oil all in your cylinders, wut color smoke?

turning your engine upsdie down COULD HAVE allowed a shitload of oil to collect in your valve covers wich if still stock are connected to the two hoses on the top taht WILL leak into your other hoses if you did have them connected still.

or you just plain blew your turbo seal.

Looks like nasty engine oil creeped back up into the the rear of the turbo through the drain back tube, and behind the rear turbo heatshield (internal).

You could either A.) RUn it untill it stops smoking (will coke the rear of the turbo internally like mad) or B.) rebuild the turbo

i would just double check EVERY connectino, vacuum lines, oil lines, double check the oil level and just run it until it clears up.

Regardless of the cause the entire problem has completely cleared up... there's now as much smoke as you would expect out of a complete rebuild: None.

pretty scary to have your brand new engine smoking like that though :)
