We need a thread for all of ous local supra owners so that we can have each others number in case somebody needs some parts or just want to get together for a supra meet. You don't have to post your phone number if you don't want too, but at least we'll have your screen name so we can send you a pm informing you about a get together. Hopefully since we have a few local guys that are really cool, we'll be having a few more. I'll start with my info. You can copy this format and install your own info.

This invite goes out to Mustang owners as well as any other cool people on here that like to get together to talk shit and have lunch together.

Jim, you don't know how often I regret selling that car. If I'd have known how good you were gonna make that black look, I'd have kept it. Now we have to get you to bring it out to a meet or two. Make plans now for TX2K9 in March. I'd love to have 5-6 Mobile area Supras there. Look in the introductions section for Justin87. He's got a really nice looking white 91 in Mobile. We gotta get him, James, Bill, and Richard to get in here.

Scott, you are making me feel bad for buying it. LOL Jessie keeps it looking pretty good. She is always washing it and putting the soul glow on the tires. However, the paint is finally starting to show it's age. We want to get it painted soon, but I would rather put money and time into the motor. It needs work and parts, but I need $$$$. Marshalls Paint and Body in Mobile painted April's Talon and did a pretty nice job on it, so we may get them to paint the Supra when the $$$$ comes. Haven't decided on color(s) yet! It won't be black, that is for sure. We had all kinds of plans for it this year, but we lost the spare car we wanted to use for her daily driver.

No comments about the Neon please, Tony is a great guy, and that's a pretty damn fast neon. Those are the two cars that were present when my grey car went down.

Those are some impressive times. My car isn't much on the dragstrip at all. Automatics are definately FTW when it comes to racing and everyday driving. I wish I had a good th350 in mine with a set of 3.5gears for the higher rpms. That's what I will end up going with some day and then maybe I can make a ten second pass. I think my car will make enough power to do that, but I doubt I ever get the five speed to hook up good enough. We'll see one day though.

Those are some great vids Bill.

Jay, if you get sticky enough tires and are confident in your clutch then you could get into the 10s easy. Although a TH would be a lot easier.

Sorry about the double entry. Had a time figuring out how to post a pic.
No, this car hasn't been to Steele. It hasn't really been anywhere other than Anniston a few times and Walker Dyno a couple of times. I keep it in some stage of disassembly most of the time. I did the ebay twin turbo upgrade before it got out that they were garbage. I'm trying to get the single up and running, but am having some plumbing problems, as in I'm not sure what to do with a couple of hoses. I'm hoping to hit the forum when I can and talk to some of you guys in the know.
I also have a bunch of twin stuff I want to get rid of reasonably cheap.
I'm out for a couple of days, but will check in this weekend. Thanks for the compliment, but don't look too close, I painted the car myself, and it was my first paint job

In light of yesterday's events, it is funny how I found myself looking at the Big Brake Kit instead of the Upgraded Turbo. My subconscious usually drives about 50% of my behavior.

There are rumblings over on SF of an Alabama meet on Dec 13 not sure how much traction they are getting though but I am "IN". No real details as of yet.

just found out the guy doesnt have the title in his name. i did some searching and hes owned it sence june or aug . doesnt make sence why he dosnt have the title in his name. plus its a tn title and that can be a pain. anyway keeping the supra. what would summer be like without the taga. got to give them somthing to hate on. how much do you think it would cost to have my block decked? i want everything eles inspected. i need to build my 7m swap for my 85. also does anyone know where i can find a 85 oil pan? there kinda hard to find.

suprahero
12-14-2008, 09:25 PM
DL, I may can find you one. I have an 83 sitting out here in a field by my house that used to be mine. It now belongs to a friend of mine, but I can probably get the oil pan off of it if you need one.

^^^yeah need the 85 its has the fitting for a 7m swap to hook up the turbo. i have a 84 that i might modify. looked at the celica it was junk. i get there the car was just sitting there idling with the hood closed. witch was really strange. am sure he was trying to hide somthing.

If you're in the Tuscaloosa area then call Morgan's machine shop to get your block decked. He did all of the machine work on my 7MGE and I have had no problems with his work. My motor was messed up from the start with pitting and warpage. But after he was done the block and head were good to go.

Head milled .020 and block decked .002. My motor is running a higher CR but hey NA motors love high CR.

Welcome Brent.......what made you get rid of the black supra? It looked pretty good with those black wheels.

BlackDynamite
12-25-2008, 07:59 PM
well i got rid of the wheels and there was a guy at my work that wanted it really badly. It was automatic, Na, and Targa...which equaled slow. But it made up for it by having 49,000 miles on engine and a new black paint job. The engine had BHG and a spun bearing. I rebuilt it, check sig, and dumped some money into it. Had a nice stereo in it already put in etc.

i bought for 1300$ broke and dumped in 1700$.

I sold it for what i had in it. It was also my first rebuild.

Made the mistake of putting in a 7m crank for durability but made it slower revving... :[

do ya have some detination goin on? or are ya wantin to keep the hp numbers high on the pump gas? i seen where you replyed in the crower gb u lookin to upgrade? you have 272s ,you upgrading to the 280 or the large core?also are the small core 272s the same spec as the new design 264s. id like to upgrade but i dont know if i should spent my money on a e-manage ultimate it would probably net the same hp as the264s.what do you think.

suprahero
01-22-2009, 07:52 AM
I have the ones equivalent to the 264's that he's selling now. They give you a little bit of lag early and then more than up for it on the top end.

I don't know anything about the emanage but anytime you can control your timing, you'll gain a little bit of horsepower.

I'm running the meth kit so I can run more boost and more timing without blowing up.........hopefully.

I should be able to run about 550rwhp safely on 93octane.

550 h.p daily driver. You'll probably get decent MPG, too. I appreaciate you gettin Blake Walkers number to me, but I wished I went to the guy in b'ham. What's his name, Mullins?
Blake's a flake. He told me to call him when I got to town and he would give me directions to his new shop. He wouldn't answer his phone. i ENDED UP DRIVING 4 1/2 HOURS FOR NOTHING AND HE NEVER EVEN CALLED TO APOLOGISE. Even worse, on the way back, I pulled into a gas station and hit a pile of dirt some idiot pushed up while grading (it was dark) and just about desrtroyed my front body kit that I had just fixed and put back on.
I shouldn't be to hard on him. I guess he could be dead and then I would really feel bad

suprahero
01-22-2009, 07:56 PM
Did you have an appointment set up with him? That's not like him at all to miss an appointment. Sometimes he doesn't answer his phone, but everytime I've set a time and date to be there, he was there. I hate you had such bad luck with him. There's a great guy in Sylacauga named Eric Hux. He's twice as expensive as Blake, but he seems to know what he's doing.

darkspeed
01-22-2009, 10:35 PM
Blake isn't the type of guy to stand by the phone. He stays busy, so make sure you lock in a time slot, and he should deliver. He always met my needs

Chaz
01-23-2009, 08:36 AM
Made the appointment the week before. He called me and we set it up after I left a message (Wednesday at 430). Like I said, he said to call him when I got to Trussville. I tried from 3pm to 430 pm, but his message box was full. I went to his old shop and asked the guys there if they knew where he was but the directions they gave me were wrong. Just seems to me a guy should have a land line if he has a business. But thats just me. Blake did a good job the last two times I went to him. He did stay on his cell phone most of the time, but didn't charge me for the time he wasn't working.
The guys that gave me the bogus directions told me his phone didn't work too good at the new location, but Blake did know I was coming and told me to call him.
But you know, it's done and I'm not going to worry with it. I was more pissed with the damage done to my car on the way back.
But you may want to tell Blake that the guy in Bham is getting several of his customers(according to him) because they either can't get in touch with him or figured he was out of business. That guys Dyno is down, but should be fixed in a couple of weeks
Blake seemed to be a good guy, but I won't go back.

Hey all!

Can anyone tell me of any junk yards near-ish Auburn AL that have some mk3 cars and or parts? :aigo:

Also, I know this is a loaded question...but, about how much is a '87 NA auto with a BHG worth? Apparently is has a straight body and little of no rust. It is silver (oxidized) with maroon leather (cracked rear seats). I have not seen it but I trust the guy's word. I want it mainly for the rear sub-frame, gas tank, and diff. Any rough ideas?

Thanks!

labrat469

I paid 600 for my 88 NA w/manual, BHG, rod knock and a crappy interior. It all depends on how much the car is worth paying for. I've seen cars in worse shape than mine going for 750+

dirtlord420
01-28-2009, 02:06 PM
being an auto i would say 400. no telling whateles your going to run in to. with a blowen head gasket i would say it would be better off being fully rebuilt. it really all depends on how much money and time you have. parts add up fast, and being a supra it doesnt like cheap parts.

He parked close to where they pull the cars out of the paint booth one day. Is the paint still wet? No Does it look as good as the pictures make it look? Yes it does!

I stopped by the shop just after he got it. My jaw dropped for a bit before the airspace radar alerted him that someone was close. He came out and pointed out a flaw or two, but I doubt he'd be painting this beauty if he didn't work in a body shop.

ANY meets anytime soon ? Its starting to warm up. I up for a meet at steel one weekend.

I'm up for any Tuscaloosa meets. Last time I heard on ARS they were trying to get something going after spring break. I'm still replacing parts on my money-pit and I'm afraid if my car goes beyond the city limits it will break down. I replaced the power steering high pressure hose only to blow the seals in the rack.

Somehow the car knows I have money in the bank and it wants me to spend it all on repairs. And I thought my last high maintenance g/f was expensive.....

One of the great things about owning a 20+ year old car .My car is nearly new ,I have replaced everthing ,motor, trans, clutch, clutch master and slave, power steering rack, tierod ends ,wheel bearings, tems shocks, radiator, carpet ,dash, doorpanels, seats, targa seals,fp,exhaust, brake calipers, windshield, the list goes on and on.

any of you guys interested in some stock MKIV chrome TT wheels with tires for $450 picked up. The chrome is in rough shape but the tires are practically brand new except for one. It has inner camber ware. Here are some pics. 255/40/17 and 235/45/17. I planned on sand blasting them and painting them bright silver or black/polished lip. If i do that, the price will go to $575

Ah yes... Spring time. When all of us Supra owners feel the need to work on our cars the strongest. I've been cleaning the interior of my car. Stained is not one of the carpet and seat colors that came in a Supra.

Thanks guys! Yeah, hate the oem wheels, wtf were they thinking?

Can't seem to find any cheap 5-6 spoke rims around here locally.

Can't hate on the stock wheels with a car lacking color coordination can you? Isn't that in a rule book somewhere??

I'm sorry, was that a stereotype? I haven't heard that used before. I'll give you an A for effort though. In the mean time, don't give advice on what looks good.

I started in a playful manner. I understood your follow up to be that way as well, hence I said it wouldn't take you long to fit in. Your latest comment seems to be changing the tone. I refuse to go that way with you. I know we will meet sooner or later, if you make it to any of the meets around, and I don't need to make any enemies. I'll just repeat, "Nice car you have there".

You make enemies on forums, and take it to outside the forums?

Is that what I'm reading?
