hi guys i have a question, will having my pcv vented to the atmosphere cause smoking or any problems at all besides the to environment

i don't have a second to read the posted thread cus im stuck working super much cus of dumb cops.:3d_frown: but on PCV systems its purpose is to take unwanted gases out and they are sent to your charcoal cansiter(which is literaly a canister of charcoal) now somsone please chime in if i am wrong, so he gets the right info. But the gasses that are unusde flow into the PCV because they are pushed upwards by the piston rings. And you wouldn't want those gases staying in your engine bay

PCV and Charcoal cannister have nothing to do with each other ;)

PCV gasses are sucked into the intake and burnt.

Charcoal cannister handles the fumes from the fuel tank.

exactly what 1J said the Evap control is part of the VSV BVSV etc at certain temps it sucks the extra fumes from the tank filterd & recondensed at the charcoal canister.

EGR recycles exhaust fumes back into the intake to cool off the combustion and try to burn any extra gas fumes or at least a portion of them.

PCV is a one way valve that applys a slight vacume to the inside of the engine because if you over fill you oil or have to much pressure it blows the seals out in your engine. there is other bennys like it burns harmfull fumes that tear up engine oil blow by etc.

There is a better way of creating a vacume but it creates more polution locomotives use inductor tubes its stuck into the exhaust its a spooned tube design so as the exhaust gases pass around this tube it sucks the gas out of the engine instead of just sucking it into the engine intake:icon_bigg

If you do vent to atmosphere only do a breather on only one side of the head then on the otherside use a PCV valve into the intake with a catch can or you could do both head ports to the PCV

The 7M PCV does not use a valve...primary vacuum is supplied from the plenum through an orifice in the TB. The orifice prevents an excessive boost leak...a weak vacuum is supplied from the accordion hose (under boost) to the other side.

You do not want to use breathers of any kind on the cam cover PCV tubes...the system needs positive vacuum to work properly. It's a closed system to prevent unmetered air causing problems with ECU fuel control.
