Just got the truck a while back and the alternator took a crap the other day. Anyway, it only has one wire hooked to the back of the alternator that sends it a 12v signal when the ignition comes on and the other two posts in the back are unused. It's putting out 14.5 volts, but I'm curious as to what the other two posts are for and if anything is being hurt by not having everything hooked up right.

Which is which for the connections on the alternator itself? I don't have any of those colored wires. There are two connections that are parralel to each other and one connection that is perpindicular to those. I think I'm using the lower parralel connection right now.
