Alright guys. I just bought that '92 Supra I now have, the guy never gave me the original block. I returned him the favor, I didn't give him a clutch fork he needs, so I told him I would drive to Detroit ( 250 miles ) from where I am and give him that if he gives me the block + the Eagle rods ( Brand new ) So I got them.. I have no Idea how but I did.

My question is: After you look at the pic's of the block, it was shot peened* , and it looks like it sat look at the surface rust, can I use this or what I really need to know, because I want to build a nice horsepower motor here.

The * L@@K * really just reeled me right in!

That block is as good as a boat anchor.

Not to say you didn't help BUT that didn't' really answer my question, can you give me the main reason, " * i.e the bearing will not fit, the rust can't be taken out, nothing can be done>?

Ahh, see this post was more of a incentive to have this one fixed.

Would need to be line honed first.

I'd have it crack tested before spending a cent on it though.

throw some oil or wd40 or something on it if going to sit a for a lil while to prevent more rust happening

I would think that the machine shop who is going to crack test, and line hone it for you should be able to get the rust off and put down a nice layer of paint for you.

If they acid dip the block it should remove the rust...

The oil pump drive bearing MUST be replaced if it's acid dipped, but looking at the rest of the block I would have it done anyway.

Yep, if the oil pump shaft bearings look like the rest of the block, you will have to replace them. Plus, line bore, cylinder bore, and HG deck machined. You'll have to pay attention to where the front plate attaches to the block to ensure a good seal.

The key is cracks like IJ said. I would measure the height to see if material was already removed from the deck...should be 198.5mm from the crank saddles to the HG deck.

Alright good thanks, I am excited to see if this block is good. I know all the bearing will have to be replaced, but the nice thing is.. No bearing are in the engine right now.. and it has arp main cap studs at the bottom and Ill make sure they remove those too. I was just wondering if that block sat in rain... I have never see rust like this on a block.. I guess you see something new all the time. I have a '89 motor that came with the car.. I think i am going to make sure the timing is good, and then put that into the supra for the time being, I want to make sure the car starts 1st before I try to make a nice motor..

Thank you for your time and evaluation on this, much appreciated.
