I know some people with bigger turbos love their cars in the top end. I also hear it saves gas due to all the turbo lag in the low end or when the turbo is not spooled yet. My question is other then turbo lag making you feel like your driving a honda, does it hurt the motor?

no
it could if you dont tune the fuel before you come into boost, but in all, no, lag doesnt bother the engine at all

lol, if anything... lag is probably good for the engine.. Boost is pretty tough on parts.
