I got a set of usdm cams a while ago and I wanted to put them into my jdm aristo motor . I know that they arent the sickest choice but I have them now so I figure why not just put them in before I put the motor in the car. Problem is Im useless with the whole shim design and how to measure lash. Has anyone done the same swap around here? the supraforums search function is down and I was hoping to swap them in this weekend.

odds most likely will be that you dont need to re-shim them if you are just swapping over to the usdm cams

Theres gotta be someone on here that can come through I might be off but
I would asume that I have to:
1.Measure the lash when the current cams are in and record the data
2.take them out and measure shim width and record the data
3.Put the new cams in there and measure the difference in lash
4.make up for the difference in lash with the right sized shims
5.done?
Do the cams have to have the same value or gap as the previous?
Feel free to chime in and u may call me a retard I have just never done this before
