Unshrouding the valves?

I've seen you mention "unshrouding valves," and would like to know exactly, or close, what you did to achieve this. I have an idea, but would like to be positive before I start cutting on a head. Would this be close? Someone posted a link to this Cressida a while back, and I found it interesting.
