Is this considered a dirty word?
A guy at work just inherited a 96 300SC that has a 2jz. I smoked him in my 91 stocker, but am wondering if people put turbo kits on these cars much. Here in California, I can't do much at all with my 7M, but thought maybe I could turbo up a 300SC
Is this a stupid idea, or a regularly done thing?
Thanks

very common to see these with GTE swaps , and some na-t.

i'm actually helping a friend perform the gte/v160 ,and supra rear end swap on an sc300

MKIV's use alot of SC chassis parts (SC's came out before the MKIV), such as suspension components, and a bunch of parts are interchangeable..

Engine swaps are very common, you can also swap in 1JZ's (they came stock that way in Japan)..

What exactly is preventing you from doing something with the 7M? Or are you implying that you are getting worked by other cars?!

they make turbo kits from like boostlogic, wotm, titanmotorsports, etc for the sc300s that want to turbocharge their cars or you can just piece a turbo kit together for a kit u want but that involves a little more work

I would Buy a 1JZ swap from a Soarer with a R154, make sure that it is from a Soarer with the ECU and harness. The only thing that you should have to do is Extend the Harness about 18 inches and everything is pretty much plug and play. The Swap will cost you about $2500.

Another thing you can do is keep your bottom end and buy the 1JZ swap and just bolt everything on to the 2JZ bottom. So you'll have a 1.5 JZ. But I would for sure do a 1JZ swap over turboing the stock 2J just because it is easier with the the 1JZ ecu.

check my build i have 92 sc300 engine in my car. i figured it would be cheaper becouse with cost of conveting to single and getting a ffim.i still haven't got to the cost of what a 2jzgte motor would run.
