I read a manual online that says to put packing in the front cam bearing caps on my 1987 Mark III
According to the Dylan Wiggins 101 directions he mentions nothing about packing material under the front main bearing caps. I assume the packing material is something like RTV Gray??
Anyway, I already torqued them down so I need to know if I need to remove them and put packing material in.
Also,,, according to the TRSM, the torque setting for the cam bearing caps says (14)(20). What does that mean. Do I torque them to 14 or do I torque them to 20?
Thanks in advance!!

Just about any RTV will work you'll see grooves in the underside of the cam cap.

14 ft/lbs

20 nm

Yes, you need to pull them off and put some RTV on them. They will leak like a sieve without them.
