Glad to hear... That's where I'm going to get mine from and was a little concerned about the quality and fitment... As for everything else, I'm getting them done through Empera here on SM (door trims front and rear, console cover, & parking brake) :)

miss - seats do look good in person, leatherette imo is still fkn vinyl!

Poodles
07-08-2008, 09:23 PM
Most people won't notice the difference, but there is one crutial one. Leather if it gets wet doesn't really get slick, while vinyl does.

Leather shiftknob and steering wheel wrap kicks ass because of this.

Xistant
07-08-2008, 09:32 PM
leather far to high maintainance and when its clod its cold and when its hot its yeah well sticky!

that being said, i like leather shift knobs and wheels though they wear far too fast.

Poodles
07-08-2008, 09:38 PM
Take care of em ;)

Vinyl wears faster in my experience, real leather is used for motorcycle gear because of it's abrasion resistance.

LilMissMkIII

The seat covers are pretty bloody cheap too! I think I'll be getting front and rears in the gb for $425AUD...

Quin
07-09-2008, 12:12 AM
How much are they normally? I don't have cashola laying around but I'd definitely be interested in a set in the future.

LilMissMkIII
07-09-2008, 12:21 AM
Can't remember off the top of my head, but the $425 figure includes both front and rear covers.

xsjado
07-09-2008, 12:39 AM
I think in the GB price was $470+25 postage. I got mine for $490 installed along with gear/handbrake boosts and extra material because I supplied the originals.

LilMissMkIII
07-09-2008, 12:44 AM
How long did it take them to install? I'm worried it's going to take me ages...

Also, do they usually supply extra material if you pay? I would like to get my daughter's car seat done to match... (Including the same SUPRA logo embroidered)

bushes are fair fucked, but suprisingly the cradle isnt to bad, no cracks that i could see.

as for the actuall diff, unbelievably awsome, its just so controllable its not funny. will bite your head off tho if your not paying attention on roundabouts.

hard on the throttle around a corner, and have shitloads of lift off oversteer is awsome :)

Quick question, EMS Stinger or Power FC, not taking into account pricing :).

Xistant
07-10-2008, 11:34 PM
GO AEM :d

xsjado
07-10-2008, 11:36 PM
Comparing specs the EMS Stinger seems to have the edge, but the Power FC is sufficient for what I want. Now lets say one of them cost 10x more then the other...

Why don't you go with the AEM :p.

IJ.
07-10-2008, 11:46 PM
If the feature set of the cheaper unit will do what you want why would you pay more for the other?

(I tend to overbudget/overestimate on what I "might" need and so far this works well for me)

xsjado
07-10-2008, 11:51 PM

LilMissMkIII
07-11-2008, 07:14 AM
No pics of exhaust will be up until next weekend... I unwrapped it, and it has quite a bit of surface rust :(

But I really can't complain about the elbow grease needed to get it back to its former shiny glory of 5000km ago when it was made... I only paid $400 :D:D:D:D:D:D

Anyone have any idea on the increase in power I can expect to get from it? (3" from the turbo back on an otherwise 100% stock 7M)

I am hoping to get power runs done on the dyno with each mod done, but would be nice to know what to expect....

Quin

LilMissMkIII
07-11-2008, 05:38 PM

Nice work there

Must say that turbo kit looks tasty

Mechanical LSDs are fun arent they? I love my Cusco 1.5 way, no more driveline slop like the stock one when getting on and off the throttle and some friendly noises and stuff when it locks up in tight bends.

One morning I went to move my car, had the steering on full lock but the front wheels were on some slippery concrete and the car went dead straight, thats how tight the diff is lol

Well it probably doesnt help for comparison but my 35R with T-04Z comp wheel makes ~350rwhp at 10psi.

Lol I'll get that printed out next time I see the tuner for you guys, we did it right after the 400rwkw run. I always wanted to know what the car would do on just the actuator. It made260 something rwkw, I saw it on the screen, the boost plot was dead horizontal to redline at 10psi, the little HKS 40mm gate does its job very well.

IJ.
07-15-2008, 05:55 PM
I'm NOT calling BS Dan it's just intersting to see the difference the smaller Hotside makes.

It took me 17psi to make 264 a couple of days ago so something is different here.

07-15-2008, 05:57 PM
Well i got my car dynoed yesterday in brisbane!

turbo-a supra, 7mgte
all the usual mods, map-ecu, pressure reg, pump, spearco cooler, etc etc, 60-1 garrett ct-26.

it made 360hp at 14psi with 493nm!
will scan in the dyno sheet, but gets a small knock in it at about 10psi, and gets really bad above 14psi!

engine was detonating eariler! cant seem to find any more info on "turbo-a" ecu's.. dont think it likes to be messed with. it spewed out a couple of error codes, but fixed them.. so rather spend money on a ignition controller im better of going full stand alone i think!!

Then my car wont be original much then :(

All good I knew you werent, anyone who knows me knows one of my pet hate is BS exaggerated dyno figures.

Wow thats interesting on the power figures, perhaps you being auto makes a big difference? Though my Brothers car with a stock 35R makes 290 odd rwkw at 1.2bar and he runs an MV built auto with high stall and no lock up clutch.

My comp cover would be smaller than yours even though we have the same wheel right?

By seat of the pants it feels right as while it doesnt have the electrifying midrange at 10psi like the CT-26 had at 20 it definately goes harder from 4000rpm up and doesnt drop off at high rpm like the CT-26 does

IJ.
07-15-2008, 06:05 PM
Dan: Pretty sure the Comp covers are the same.

I still have some fiddling left to do as I was getting spark blowout on the 17 psi run around torque peak :(

Mine was done on 95 PULP (93 octane)

It really started pumping hard above 18 psi but due to the spark blowout we couldn't run it like that and the usual fix for this condition is to add some timing but that of course rattled the engine so we dropped it back to a safe tune.

Bugger. I'll find out on the comp covers but I was always under the impression that the Z one was larger, which is why I canned any thoughts of going to one and hi-flowed my turbo instead. I only have 5mm clearance between my intercooler top pipe and the comp cover as is and no room to move unless I do custom manifold.

I was using premium unleaded, and octane booster, though, just like on the street, in summer I can run full boost with no booster but in winter it rattles anything above 1 bar, I have been told fuel is seasonal? Its been like this on the standard ecu too. When the Motec first got installed we could run 1.2 bar with straight pump fuel, its all in the luck of the draw when you fill up I find.

For ignition all I have is the original coils, new TRD leads and a bosch 3 channel igniter and thats it. Works a treat so far
I'm confused now, I thought you ran LPG?

The LPG while it made great power (410 rwkw on the 3540r) was problematic so I went back to petrol as it's "easier" .

Winter will have denser air so you may have to crank the air temp compensations a little to allow for this?

Yep Octane can vary a LOT from tank to tank.

No probs at all I'd like to catch up for a chat!

If you know the duty cycle and injector size I can calculate the HP you made

Anyway,

Took the car out to get noise tested as I got a letter from the DECC. Car was 103db once I had added 2 commodore cats into it, I now have to take it for an emissions test. So a couple more things to fix! Still waiting on the clutch to arrive:(

But the Teins are in and they make a rediculous difference to the bilsteins coilovers I had, Also had to replace the front ball joints as they were FUBAR.

Last thing what bush should I be asking for that goes between the lower rear arm and the hub? As they are whats causing my retarded rear toe issue.

my setup is quiet...

Well, the DDP does leak, and when it opens it's loud as hell, but the rest of the time it's very mellow.

3" DDP, 3" high flow spun metalcore cat, 3" stainless exhaust with a resonator back to a magnaflow muffler. NEVER get second glances from cops now...

07-20-2008, 06:42 PM
ah so you swapped out your clutch pack for a torsen?

what ratio you using atm?

and where were these "high speed" runs done ;)

3.5:1 at the mo

ALL my top end runs are done on a closed test track ;)

07-20-2008, 07:31 PM
ahah of course of course ;)

what was your top speed?

IJ.
07-20-2008, 08:05 PM
I was doing roll ons from 220 Kmh up to 255 then repeat.

Xistant
07-20-2008, 08:35 PM
ah kk,

255 backing off due to track or limit?

was this with the auto ? or what gear?

soz, top speed is my aim with track as the main forte.

IJ.
07-20-2008, 08:38 PM
With the gearing I was running then it was only turning high 5000's (motor would rev to 8300 easily)

There was no real limiting factor I was just playing around as I've never had a car that would accelerate that hard at the top end.

1st few times was with the Tremec TKO 5 speed then with the built a340e.

Xistant
07-20-2008, 09:04 PM
AH I SEE.....

yeah 1jz r154 and 3.9 diff HERE.

would like 3.2 or a stupid ratio like that of the bmw's (2.6 - 2.8 IIRC)

IJ.
07-20-2008, 09:09 PM
For really high road speeds your combination is in the danger zone.

Low Diff gears high OD % and a motor that will rev lands you a possible starved pinion bearing and at speed it only takes seconds to become square.

If you're serious about going fast I'd look at plumbing a pump and cooler into the diff with the return being between the pinion bearings.

have been looking at pumps / coolers, would running lines up to the front to place a pump and cooler be a waste of time or stor it all up next to the fuel filter?

I have mine mounted in front of the fuel tank.

I use a VDO Pump designed for BMW gearboxes and a temp switch in the diff case to turn it on/off.

Pump is mounted to the Diff cradle and the Cooler is bolted to the Tow Hitch.

There should be a couple of pics in my pics thread.

I'll have a looky tonight, i think i have a rough picture / idea in my head. though i don't like pump mounted to diff. i'll prolly mount mine next to the drivers side chassis rail.

Maybe you should have kept the 7M, you'd be busy on the weekends too

The Bee*R rev limit doohickey you have, does the first knob let you set another rev limiter independent of the ecu? Meaning, could you use it to raise the rev limiter on a stock ecu? Second one is for launches, right? Triggered via a switch or a push button I'm guessing?

first is your new limiter UNDER your ecu limiter,

example
if ecu is 7000rpm
then bee*r is 6500rpm / 7000rpm
