Interior Color - Grey or Dark Grey?

Hey Guys real dumb question but is this consided medium grey or dark grey? I am ordering my lotek pillar pod and want to make sure it matchs! Sorry for the dumb question!:nono:

Seth, that is medium gray. You could also double check it with your
vin # at a dealer ship

The dark (shadow) grey looks almost black. Your door panels and dash do look a little darker than mine though. Maybe just the camera shot.

This is just a theory of mine from what I've observed, but I don't believe there was more than one shade of gray in any given model year.

All 89-90 gray cars were 'medium' gray, and all 91-92 cars are 'dark' gray. The shadow gray interior was simply the normal dark gray interior with black seats, door panel inserts, etc.

Since you have a 91-92 car judging by your door panel, I'm going to guess medium gray is probably too light.

Most of the original grey parts are replaced with the shadow grey part numbers in the EPC...

from the pics your car looks like a 91-92, therefore its the dark gray (shadow), this is the color for later years, there was a lighter shade but i think that was from 86-88???

The only difference between shadow and dark shadow is that the dark shadow has an almost black leather trim on the seats, door panel inserts, arm rest and rear panel inserts. the actual door panel,dash and other plastic panels are the same gray color.

^Agreed...All 91/92's with a grey interior, are the aforementioned 'Shadow Grey'. Leather interior option had black seats, and more black trim pieces.

Shadow grey is the MOST misunderstood option on these cars. Many parts are sold under this name, and unknowing buyers attach that name to their parts not knowing the difference. I've seen so many different colored grey things advertised as "shadow", that I'm so confused myself.

Parts of the previous statements are correct, some are not. I have parted and owned several 91-92s and EVERY gray interior part in a 91-92 is different from the previous years in one way or another. Even the gray cloth seats in 91-92,though they are very similar in color to 89-90 have a slightly different cloth pattern. ALL vinyl parts including dash, door panels,rear side panels, ALL plastic parts including door sills, seat belt guides, complete console ( not including lid) all rear hatch area parts such as cargo cover, the wrap around pieces that are so agravating to remove to get to the back lights, the over head covering of the hatch, the head liner, EVERY single plastic or vinyl part is a darker gray than 89-90 cars. When you have the black leather seats in 92, then the console lid,door panels inserts, rear side panel inserts are all the Black color leather. Also the carpet in 91-92 is a darker gray.

1986.5-1988: "Grey"
1989-1990: "Medium Grey" (Same as 86.5-88 "Grey")
1991-1992: "Shadow Grey"

There was never a year where more than one type of grey was offered.

1986.5-1992 Cloth: Grey
1986.5-1991 Leather: Grey
1992 Leather: Black

Yea ordered the dark grey from Lotek a good while back. It does not match perfectly, too light but looks good. Thanks for all the help!

I ordered the 'Dark Grey' from Lotek, and it was pretty damn close....perfect, who knows....I haven't scrutinized it, but it looks the same color to me....*shrug*
