This is my GTE block/GE head hybrid... this is the current progress as of this weekend. Shouldn't be too much longer before I'm dropping it in the 93.5

I'll be starting my NA-T project soon as well. I just need some MKIII 440 injectors and a wideband. I'm pretty sure I have everything else for now.

It is just those for now. I'm still on the auto tranny. So, I can't push too much boost. Once I can get the money to go 5 speed, then I'll be putting the 1.3mm headgasket on and bigger injectors.

Oh yea? What else would I need to put it in my car? I don't know too much about the auto trans.

gixxer750
06-01-2008, 07:34 PM
you would have to find a way to control it. I have an aem... or you can do the na valve body in the TT trans... clubna-t has bunches of info on it

When do you expect to have it finished Chris? Keep an eye out on that TopNotch guy. He's not above driving over to Missississississississississippi and pulling the turbo parts off.........:biglaugh:

chris, is that the head from bj's house? looks good by the way.
i am ready for another ccs meet, probably in mandeville at my parents again but everyone needs to figure a date that they are free.

gixxer750
06-01-2008, 10:28 PM
No, I aquired this head elsewhere. It was bought from a local performance shop. I rebuilt it myself with BC springs and titanium retainers. New valve seals, and a valve job were also performed on it. Its better than new.

I'm ready for a meet too. I'm off every weekend now. I'll be down for scraping the coast for sure.

gixxer750
06-02-2008, 08:15 PM
progress held up at moment. waiting on parts from titan, an intake manifold, an oil pan from toyota, the rest of my clutch pedal stuff from toyota. Also waiting on my cams to get here.

TopNotch2JZ
06-02-2008, 11:00 PM
How much was all of the clutch pedal stuff? Seems I looked it up one time and it was only like $125. I could be completely off though. Are you going from auto to manual or something, and what transmission? I already bought a v160 for mine, but I still gotta get everything else for the swap.

Prices at wholesale cost from toyota. I ordered everything on the diagram. Ran me about 395

Clutch master $99
Clutch Pedal $48
Clutch Pedal bracket $ 62
MT Brake pedal $41ish
various and other assorted nuts screws bolts and other items make up the rest. Like the return spring, cruise neutral safety switch, clutch switch....etc

Very expensive to do it right, but hey... may as well.

Chris, 2 questions. 1 what are you doing with the ge block and 2 are you going to do a custom FFIM on that beast.

gixxer750
06-03-2008, 06:59 PM
Not custom but FFIM yes. The GE block is going in.... well, lets just say something familiar to you. I've got three heads, three blocks, and lots of other parts at this point.

hottscennessey
06-03-2008, 07:51 PM
Make sure you put cams in this beast, 100+whp gain on my 2JZGE-T ;)

What do you have planned for engine management?

gixxer750
06-03-2008, 09:12 PM
AEM EMS

I'm using a TT shortblock that I rebuilt. It had 10k miles on it, developed rodknock due to previous owner stupidity. Everything else was unhurt. Got a new connecting rod, ARP rod bolts, ARP main's, ACL bearings, and a good crankshaft. Pistons were coated on the skirts. I put new toyota rings in it, a brand new TT oil pump, new oem toyota head gasket, ARP head studs, aftermarket springs and titanium retainers in the head along with a valve job and new seals. I did a mild pocket port around the back of the valve seats while it was apart. Yes, I'm doing cams too.

Should be good for whatever the poor little 67 will blow. The turbo on my engine made 716 on a TT engine with aem at one point in time. That was with stock head, stock internals, stock cams and bunches of other stock stuff. Should be a big deal to pull numbers close to yours with what I've got. You running an R154?

hottscennessey
06-03-2008, 09:33 PM
Yea, still running the R154. Sounds like you're going to have a solid setup! It's going to be a blast to say the least.

gixxer750
06-03-2008, 09:56 PM
I bet I break 500whp in texas next year... maybe a good bit more. 500 is my goal for pump gas @ under 18 psi.

The distributor is going away when I get my hands on some VVTI coil pack goodness.

TopNotch2JZ
06-03-2008, 10:41 PM
Yeah, when I said clutch pedal assembly, I was just talking about that not any of the brake or master cylinder or anything. so I was about right. I am gonna be getting all of that stuff too here one of these days. I am gonna skip the nuetral safety switch and possibly that other switch too.

I love the t67's and it is what I will be starting out with when I first go turbo, and from there I am gonna move up to the GT42R and probably call it quits there. If the t67 made 716 on a TT engine with AEM, it's not gonna make much more on your engine even with all the extra stuff, cause they only flow like 750.

I too hope to make 500 on pump with a t67, actually I am wanting 550 on pump, but whatever I can get. Then I am gonna add meth injection, or run e85 and shoot for 650 daily.

What kind of cams are you looking at and are you gonna go with an MKIII CPS or use a TT cam trigger when you go distributorless?

foreverpsycotic

Not custom but FFIM yes. The GE block is going in.... well, lets just say something familiar to you. I've got three heads, three blocks, and lots of other parts at this point.

Do I get to help with the street tune and level out the AFR under WOT again :evil2:

06-04-2008, 08:51 PM
I am a little lost on why you are so set on a NA-t it sounds like U have a TT head and short block there... so why not put a TT in there?

gixxer750
06-05-2008, 02:18 AM
I'm going Na-T because the head flows better, and I don't have any TT accessories. The head will flow more than 750 hp no problem. I'm going to run a TT crank trigger, with a pickup behind a cam gear, and magnets in the gear.

gixxer750
06-08-2008, 01:13 AM
what post jake?

The hood is carbon, but the gelcoat is screwed. I'm trying to fix it, but if that doesn't work I'll paint it.

The car is black with loads and loads of blue flake, and a little red flake mixed in. Really interesting paint color.

Got my seats finished, cleaned the carpet, cut and buffed the front bumper. Hooked up amp on highs, and an 8" bass tube.

Also, since I'm waiting on parts for the motor, I got bored. I installed a nitrous kit I had laying around jetted at 150 hp. Car is much much more peppy now. I can hit the button at 4500 rpm in second and light up my 275 bfg's through an auto. Its almost like a turbo car, except without the turbo... lol

Will post pics later, as I'm about to leave for the weekend headed to scraping the coast.(car show)

I had the harness on the motor, had to pull it back off to wire in crank sensor.... doh.

I'm using an NA harness, took it apart and ran all new wiring for VVTI coil setup, ignitor, map sensor, IAT sensor, crank and cam sensors. All unnecesary wiring was removed such as that for the egr, vsv's, stock coil, stock 02's, stock distributor, and all extra unneeded things. Wiring for AC, power steering, and other things was retained. All of it was installed back into the harness, reloomed and wrapped. It appears stock that way at this point. Wiring will be tucked under the intake manifold, and not be visible from the top of the engine bay anywhere possible.

Very little left to do at this point. I just ordered up polished TT cam covers with -10AN fittings welded in for crankcase vents. Should have them installed shortly.

One of the last things to do is figure out what speed sensor aaron is using to convert to R154 trans.

Mine ran fine... except for the starter falling off because someone *cough* BJ *cough* didn't tighten the starter bolts when we put the trans in the night before texas.

That and an alternator died. The rest of the problem was some electrical thing. Actual problems related to the 7m longblock? absolute zero. The 7m held plenty of boost(28 psi on the street after the dyno day and the drag day) several times.

so no, I have to problem with the 7m at all.... lol.

gixxer750

I posted it on SF, I've not been here for quite a while.

AEM, in their wonderful NA map, made a mistake(oh no's not AEM making a mistake)

On the ignition phasing, instead of using all the TT numbers, or just the NA numbers, they chose to use a randomly chosen number for an NA on coil 1.

The phasing numbers should always end in the same decimal point, as the cylinders always fire an identical number of degrees of crankshaft rotation.

Instead they use 22.00 5.53 and 1.53

It should be 21.53 5.53 and 1.53 along with three others for the 6 coil setup.

Since I am running a 3 coil setup, I only use the first three numbers in the map on a 24 tooth setup and fire each coil twice for wasted spark. This results in coil 1(cylinder 2 and 5) firing at a different timing than the other cylinders. Since the phasing numbers are based off of a 24 tooth cycle and you have 360 degrees of crank rotation, you end up with some off the wall stuff. The .47 of a tooth difference actually advances the ignition timing on cylinder 2&5 by 7.3 degrees. I was running about 18 degrees of timing at full boost on pump fuel(15 psi), but on 2&5 I wound up with 25 degrees... Not so good.

And that is what roasted two engines. Figured it out on round three, and have since put 5K HARD miles on the car with ZERO issues.

gixxer750
05-13-2009, 12:12 AM
Another post for this info. This time around I deleted the distributor base completely by welding a TT cam sensor bung on the head, going with crower 272 cams, using a TT crank sensor in a TT pump. I blocked the distributor hole off altogether, as there is no longer even a drive gear on the cam to run it.

The above videos were made running 13.7 psi on pump gas with ONLY 13 degrees of timing at full boost. As you can tell, the car runs pretty hard. It was also on cheap cheap sumitomo street tires.

Glad you have it running well.

I know you're pissed about the AEM timing multipler. WTF. What a shitty way to lose 2 motors. Don't be discouraged. With octane, this motor likes a lot of timing to make power. Go hop on the dyno :).
