what is the best full coilover kit for the mk3?

i was looking at the jic set and hks set...but bet their not tems capatible so which set is capatible and are good to use as dd and at times race and im also looking at atleast a low drop?

I don't think there are any TEMS compatible coilovers. So your only option for TEMS would be Illuminas.

And if you don't care about TEMS, I think there are a lot better options than JIC or HKS. I design and sell different setups using Bilstein or Koni dampers because I have not been able to find anything off the shelf that I thought would be good enough for the car.

I design setups for these cars. Select the right spring rates and then valving and then find dampers that I can have valved the way I want and then put them on the car. I let the bigger companies make the dampers, I just tell them how I want it inside and what I want it to do.

Good enough for the car, I mean that the Supra can handle very well, it has a good suspension design and its only real downfall is its weight, but even that isn't too bad. There's tons of room for good sized wheels and tires, the balance could be a little better front to rear, but overall it is a very good platform to start with.

So when I started messing with these cars, I didn't want to just throw some crappy damper with poorly selected spring rates onto the car and slam it, I wanted to put something together that would make the car work like it should. And this is one of the easiest cars to convert the mounting to work with any damper with 1/2" bearings on the end. So there are tons of possibilities and many different awesome dampers that can be used on this car.

Most of the 47 way adjustable stuff is based on Generic dampers and valving, by the time you actually find the sweet spot you might have 2>3 adjustments that actually suit your car and combination.

It depends on the companies. Bilstein has certain charges depending on what they're doing and so does Koni. It also depends on if it's a valving they already have or something totally custom.

I'm pretty damn happy with my Koni Coilovers the "Aussie Tim" (Actually Marco) that built them did a great job on the valving.

Anyone know anything about the HSD Coilovers in a few threads on here? They look like they could be very good, but I don't know where they're made, how they're valved, and if the adjustability is actually consistent and good from shock to shock. Definitely one of the only if not the only or first for the MKIII with a remote resevoir and independent rebound and compression adjustment as far as I know.

I don't really know anything about those HSD's. I haven't seen dyno plots, no one said what spring rates they come with or what adjustments they have. But the components do look like some of the other stuff out of China. But that does not necessarily mean they're bad, but without any proof that they're good, I couldn't really say either way.

I believe the HSD's are made in Korea. Many of the guys in Australia use them for drifting competition and are very successful. I got myself a set, just gotta install them. Talk to Sawbladz. He just recently installed them and is very happy. He might be able to provide some input on the valving and spring rates. HTH!

well to day i drove my car again lol. i don't have a DL right now fucking cops. so i drove it about a mile to tune it some more and its unbelievable able how well these things handle. the adjust ability is crazy. like nothing i have ever dealt with. i have drove so mean handling cars in my time and this is by far the best that i have felt. im going to try and get a hold of HSD in the next few days to get a dyno plot of the suspension and available spring rates. and anything else you would like to know. as soon and i get my DL back im going to be talking it to a shop here locally that corner balances suspension. and then fine tune from there.

im going to be workin on data on them this week. im am running 14/12 and there stiff. you can get all they way to 18k springs and then custom made spring rates if those are not stiff enough. My sway bars at stock at the moment. Over steer I have none and i have pushed these a lot.

Like i said about the date i am workin on the dyno plots.

I am comparing these to cusco's, megan's, jic, D2, when i say there good i mean there good. im not joking there nuts.

The TEMS system itself is actually not a bad system if you read up on it. People just opt for coil overs if they want more adjustability or track abuse.
