I got my ass handed to me by a hatch back civic... until we pulled over so i could check out what he had under the hood i felt pretty stupid. I asked him to pop the hood... he had no motor under there... in the back of the hatch he had a custom firewall with a blown 454... It was some amazing custom work. he had some kind of venting under his car for air flow. it was a really neat thing to see even though he has $25k dumped into his car now... and it's still a honda... at least it wasn't riced out. he had a nice normal paint job and no extra ricey crap on it at all.
well i guess i never talked about the race. from the launch he pulled 2 cars on me.. by the time he shut down he was up by 7 cars. i have full 3" exhaust and elbow boosting at 11lbs.

Is this making sense to anybody?

Yeah.. he raced a civic hatchback that has a supercharged V-8 in the hatch area. Seen that before. I've also seen a twin-engine Tiburon. One up front, one in the hatch, both running meth.

couldnt you tell by the sound of the thing the thing it wasnt a normal car i mean the sound of a big block idling and the sound of an import idling?
Would love to see pics of it!
(I did a search when I first read this but couldn't find anything on it)

um yeah..if i were to pull up next to a civic...and hear it cam'ing or idling like a big block does....let alone the compressor noise...i'd know something was up..
btw..how much tire did he rub? and how far up was his front end? what kind of transmission was he using?

I was gonna say the same thing about the sound and suspension. With no motor up front and a big block in the rear it must have had some crazy suspension work to make it look half-way normal. Good race tho! Not much you could do about THAT honda. I have lost to many hondas. GSR swaps with 13-1 compression, one with a turbonetics 60-1. But I have also whipped up on many many other hondas, so I say its ok to lose to a few special ones! ;)

i wish i had pics and more info. if i run across him again i will definitely take some. as far as the sound etc... in houston area there are a lot of hatch civics that run open exhaust so i really thought nothing of the nasty sound this one had. just figured it was another crappy civic wanting to run me but i couldnt have been more wrong. i will definitely talk to him if i see him again to try and let you all know what he had to do to get this custom job done. he said he had about $25k in the car including the shell itself. wouldn't suprise me but for that kinda money i'll take the supra all day long.:)

yea dont feel too bad. Think of what 25k in a supra would do to that car!

bingo... not that the supra will ever get $25k in it... but if it did... and im not mad or upset or disappointed that i got beat by this car... i mean he put in the money and the time so so be it.

That is what those Honda guys should be doing. Other than the noise it puts out, nice sleeper. If I had to own a Honda that's what I'd do.

I used to know of a couple of guys that had a 1986 MR2 with a 454 shoved in the back end. No supercharger or anything, but it didn't need it. I was too young to remember any good details...just that it had an ungodly motor in it!

Throw the BS flag if you want. I've seen a 1G MR2 with a V-8 motor in the rear end as well. I have a video of it somewhere on this computer.

You don't have to believe me KTL...but it did exist for at least a little while. Don't know what ended up happening to it.

Sorry, dude, it was 12 years ago...don't have any pics. Don't get me wrong, I used to have an 85 MR2, but one project car was enough. Why do you think that it is so unbelievable? Not trying to be rude, just asking. People drop all kinds of motors into cars they weren't supposed to be in all the time...

i know anything is posible but a 454 what did he use for a tranny, a toronado v-6 tranny? a v-8 will not fit un less you chop up the firewals on both sides.

but anywase thats cool if it was done. for sure. getting off topic.

It was one of the things I wanted to do to my car after I saw it, but yes, I did learn that you would have to do some major cutting/fabricating/welding and being a junior in high school with no money at the time meant it wasn't to be. BTW...I love how your MR2 looks! Makes me wish I hadn't sold mine...:)

Call bs to the thread if you like. but really if i was going to make up a story wouldn't i have won the race? im not going to brag about losing unless it's a good reason such as this. whatever
