Well guys I got the 1JZ started today using the base map that Aaron gave me for the stinger. The only problem I am having so far is that my car idles at 2500 rpm. Any idea what is causing this?

The stock IAC is probably part-way open.

The Stinger won't run that type of IAC directly, so unless you want to convert it to a 2-wire type, you'll need to block it off and set the idle with the idle stop screw.

I thought that was the case. Does anyone make a block off plate or will I have to fab up my own?

You might wanna hit up Aaron................

Is it possible to leave the stock IAC attached but disable it somehow? I plan on using an rpm activated solonoid to control the cold start.

I'm sure you can apply power to a couple of the power wires and force it to close.

we simply left it unplugged on the 1jz/stinger car here at the shop and it idles at 800 all day,(with the screw adjusted mind you).

Thanks that is exactly what I wanted to know.

The thing is that stepper motors don't have a spring to pull them closed. If they're open when you unplug them, they're open forever.

Well I guess there is only one way to find out if it is open forever or not.

All you have to do is make it close by putting juice to the close side...it just won't do it on its own.

There's a procedure in the TSRM to do it. Assuming the 7M and 1JZ Isc's are the same. ;)

You can also plug the hole with a cork. ;)

Yep, stock 1J ISCV is a normally open switch. Just get creative with it. Go to a powder coating shop and ask if they have any covers in that size.

Well I tried unplugging the ISCV and it still idles high. Is there any way to close it? Can I apply voltage the one of the ISCV plugs and get the valve to close? My other option is to make the block off plate but would prefer to try and close it first.

please be careful :)

Even though the ISC is a tough little bugger it is still an electronic component.

Here is a step by step on how to test it right from the 7m TSRM ;)
