okay this is pretty general, but I'm sure you all will pick up on this pretty quick..

simply put, where in the hell does that ring thats equipped on some downpipes (Ie. Trust, RSR, maybe others) bolt to? its just a standard metal band of decent thickness with one hole in either side for a bolt I can only assume. similar to the kind that certain mufflers come with to hold them up rather than standard hangers.

perhaps I'm missing something, enlighten me if possible.

I think I know what band your talking about as I put my brothers rsr on his car I put it on were the two pieces of the cat-back connected to each other I thought it was for some kind of reinforcement so that the two pieces wouldn't come apart or another possible reason would be so that the exhaust fumes didn't leak out.

Here is a crappy pic but I hope it answers your question,

Thank you for trying to help, its similar, in fact very similar.. But the actual RSR exhaust to my knowledge is a v band style exhaust. This would explain why it has the bands and springs..

The particular piece im referring to seems like it would connect to the body somewhere, though its not obvious as far as I can tell so perhaps I am wrong. My Down pipe is the 3" Trust MX for anyone that may have the same.

I have the same DP, it is supposed to go on the trans (the stock one had a simalar piece). I just removed the band to give the exhaust a little more movement.

yeah I think I'd have to pull it over a little to attach it to the trans, screw that, whats the point? somewhat added rigidity I suppose.. :dunno:

Yeah, something like that. DP has not fallen off in the year it has been on, so it does nothing for support.

yeah I've had my doubts about the DP being made from mild steel, however its ceramic coated so I dont think I'll worry too much.

It will rust a little bit. I think that it is mild steel that is coated, there is some rust where scratches happened.

well we don't have snow or salt here, but it does frequently rain obviously.. perhaps I can just spray it with exhaust paint in the future, or if worst comes to worst buy another. Theres just something badass about having a trust product, probably because nothing has really been stamped with that name that was designed after the early 90's.
