Yeah. Sucks that Seibon doesn't make one for our car, because their CF stuff usually comes out good. Maybe the carfashion ones SupraNick was selling? I would hate to get a CF hood that fit like shit.

but it was cheap and looks good from 10 feet away, so go figure...

Hmm maybe we can get seibon to make one. But knowing what I already know.. it probably won't happen since there isn't much interest.

I'd be interested in a CF hatch, headlight covers or b pillar louver....

Yeah, so would I, but whenever "interest threads" pop up, none of us have the money to go through with it. This is why I avoid them unless if I could really use the part and have the money.

It is because there are so many of those threads going on!:sarcasm: So too many things that people are interested in but on one has enough money for everyone of those item.

Thats good to know that VIS fits good. I have heard bad things about the clear coat going bad in about a year.

twincam187
04-29-2008, 04:18 PM
i heard that aswell..

any body shop can scuff it down and spray it though for probably dirt cheap.

i remember reading something about the uv protective coating or something, im not sure.

I just need a replacement hood and would rather get something lightweight to replace the stocker (which has a good amount of dents in it.)

I agree completely! :aigo: Emp if you want to, find out how much it would be to ship 2 hoods at once. I've been thinking about a Stout.:naughty:If it's a few bucks more for 2 hoods and we split the cost, it might be worth it.:dunno:

Have you dyno'd your car with that hood? My buddy has an Evo IX, and after his dyno tuning, the hood got warped a little bit and wouldn't close right. The day after, it was fine though. I'm still a little bit skeptical about VIS. I've hear that they are not that great

That will def. work out if its a not too much to ship 2...since i'd go wit the OEM version. I've been trying to get in contact with supranick but havent had much luck. Might have betta luck PMing him over at SF.

that Kevlar hood looks nice, minus the seam going up the middle..

you could disguise that with a hood stripe, or better yet, just paint the damn thing...

Since were on the topic of hoods. Does anyone know where I can get a fiberglass stout food?

I had a vis carbon fiber hood on my 1g dsm. It didnt fit right, but the car was in an accident and a stock one doesnt fit right either. So I can not really say anything about how well it fit. But the clear coat right above the turbo was faded, there is absolutly no bracing in the hood. Also after a long drive or a sprinted drive the hood was soft.

my hood has a full fiberglass brace underneath it. maybe different between supra and eclipse. also maybe the mould for the supra hoods is less abused due to less of a demand. that would make the hoods still produced with pretty accurate measurments. maybe not haha

A lot of these companies will make parts for our cars... all you have to do is bring your car or the part in and let them use it.. but no one does! keycomposite make some nice stuff.
