make inch cuts to the rear fender and then roll it. it will clear the tires of any rubbing issue. If I where to do mine all over again i'd just trim the damn fender.

Im about to just trim it right now. Becase truthfully I can not fit anything bigger then a 235 back there right now. Anything more and my car will be sitting on the tire. I'll work on it this weekend and see how much room I can get out of it.

damn you just might be able to fit a 255 lets hope thats not your max limit.
BorHor
04-09-2008, 10:30 AM
Yeah a 255 would be nice but I think that will be the point where my car will rub every time the car squats a little. I could just run more camber though.. haha.
I don't think most of you understand how close this is to rubbing. It is very close.

more camber will work, then your gonna need an alignment. but more camber means less tire contact area. sacraficing traction is gonna be a problem, but to hell raining season is over lol.

Nice job!!!!! at least I know what offset I need to be when I get another set of rim for my supra. I have 9.5 all the way around on my 240 s14 as well and all of my fenders where rolled and they have stretch tires 225 40 18 on all 4, its a mild stretch with some camber. I like having lips on my lips just personal taste. I don't like my wheels staggered either. Good luck rolling the rear

Hacking isn't required with a 235.;)

I read that but I still see wheels that stick past the body with stretched tires.
maybe I'm missing something...I would think it would be logical to order rims that actually fit the car and buy tires accordingly. Instead of buying rims that are wrong size, putting tires on that are too small....talk about modifying it so that you can fit a slightly less stretched tire on the wrong sized rims, then get mad when somebody tells you they look silly.

I already know 90% of you hate the look of the stretch tire. If I cared what most of the people on here though my car wouldn't be different at all. Really like those rims style wise not too fussy :)
Is there room to machince the mounting flanges to tuck em back under a bit so you can run real tires without hacking the body?
(a lot of times rims are made from a single blank and the offsets are done on the mounting surface)

If I actually wanted to get some that would fit more meat I would have got a higher offset set. But I want those aggressive stace that not many Supra people go for. I might go and just buy a higher offset pair for other uses later when I actually put down more power.

Rims look great, but the tires look like donkey balls.
Agreed! But "wet, donkey balls"!!!:icon_razz Those rims don't look any different if were to have gotten them in the correct offset that would have allowed you to run a 'real' tire size! say, a 275/35-18, rear, and a 245/40-18 front. Something you should consider, is the safety factor because of the Supra's considerable bulk. You will build excessive heat in a tire that cannot properly hold it, because of the lack of volume inside...i;e too small of tire for the weight! Good luck this summer! Rims are definately sick though!:boink:!
Looking sick Boris, lovin' the new rims and exhuast

If i could get 18x12 or 13, that would sweeten the deal....
I've got a set of 18X9.5, 18X13 that I need to desperately get rid of, PM me

Boris, once you figure out the fender clearance and can put some miles on them you'll like them. I run a narrow tire/wheel combo (not the 45 deg. angle like yours) in 235/255 on 9&10 and they're very nice to control in a slide compared to a more square fitment.
My +35 and 17" version doesn't look as good now that I've seen the 18's on your setup though.

I put on 245/40 tires today for the rear. Slight rub I have to take care of though. That is basically the max I can put back there with out adding more camber. And as for camber this is the most positive I can actually get too.

I prefer tires that fit, but either way your car is now easily the most badass N/A. Period. Nice fab job on the exhaust!
Looks better with the new tires.

Stupid Supra's. I made a slit at the end of each fender lip so I can roll it more but the main rub problem is the molding. Time to cut them down.

Gridded it down. Better, but it still rubs. I will do more grinding work tomorrow.
