Not really a build thread as such but I thought I would share what I've done in the past couple of months.

Well, I/we decided to paint the car as a few already know. Thanks to my wife for supporting me throughout this and as you guys may already know, I knew she was a keeper. :biglaugh: We are going to revisit Vegas this year and I hope to see many of you there!

I have purchased pretty much everything for the exterior. Special thanks to Mark at Vancouver Toyota in WA. :) Every single piece for the glass trim, all moldings, marker lights, both front and rear hatch/hood shocks, mud flaps, pretty much every rubber part you can see on the car, door vents (when you open door, are against body), hood, headlight covers, all new clips that hold on each part, and misc bolts. The glass has also been removed for paint and I also purchased new windshield. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. The body has been left stock other than the fenders being rolled front and rear.

Here are a few pics. One of car in block primer and a few misc pics of the parts in boxes etc.. :)

I hope to have it back by next weekend!

Here in block primer

Here are a few pics of the custom CNC part to mount the gauges back on the hood. It is simple but I like details as many know. The parts still needs to be anodized black.

I also picked up a MoTeC MDD which I haven't installed yet either. Still needed is a custom mounting bracket. :icon_bigg

WOW, i've seen your attention to detail and from what i've seen of the paintwork under the hood this car is going to be spectacular. I cant wait to see it man, I assume your wrapping the car in plastic when you take it down to centralia. :) Wouldnt blame you if you showed up with a shrink wrapped car on a trailer.

Looks AMAZING even without paint. Good work Duane.

Duane thats a lot of work man. I know because I just did it myself.

Im sure you meant PPG - it looks like they sprayed down some K38 or maybe even some DPLF as a sealer? Either way your car was a bit more stripped down than mine.

Are you going with white? Im sure it will look clean either way. I really wanted to go with a darker color with a total repaint so I went with a dark green.

Typo, thanks fixed LOL

It is going OEM white still to match the bay I did last year. I want it to look like new, or close to it. :icon_bigg Yes it is a lot of work and I hope it's nice as I anticipate.

Dude - I am still overwhelmed by my paint project. I have one last piece (fuel door) to finish up and it seems like it is just WAY overbearing. Im honestly burnt out. It took me about 4 months of part time work to get the car ready for paint. My full time job would just interfere too much!

Props to you for turning it out so fast. Hopefully I can finish my clear coat wet sanding this week.

Painting a car is a task so labor intensive that only those that have actually done it can understand the magnitude.

Anyone can spray a car, but having it done so nobody knows it's not stock paint takes a lot of work.

Good work Duane it looks amazing. I'm partial to the color :)

quick questions, are you going to put in the heat blanket/shield on the hood or just leave it bare? Any worries about heat damage or did you do some sort of preventative prep work?

Cant wait to see this car in person man. See you in two weeks.

Show these guys some more pics. The car looks even better from other angles, and the 275 drag radials are as wide as a 285 and look huge and fat on the car from the rear with the aggressive offset Duane chose.

I know Duane secretly posted this under your username. He's tricky like that......:biglaugh:

You had the opportunity of a lifetime and you didn't even do a slight burnout. I am truly disappointed in you.......the worst that could have happened is you lose control and sideswipe another car. You guys are brothers. He would have forgiven you.........eventually........:evil2:

Looks awesome Duane. Definately worth the wait............

Don't think you would want to work on my car. (not that I would bring it that far out of site) The paint guy I chose was afraid as he knew how picky I was. LOL

Thanks for the comments :icon_bigg

The parts just for the exterior of the car (the trim) wasn't cheap. I bought pretty much everything that goes on the car exterior including, moldings, rubber parts, bolts, marker lights (tails are new but from last year) mud flaps and many things that I think I listed in the thread a few pages back. IIRC, it was around $3000 not including windshield.

You can get a hold of Mark on here from Vancouver Toyota, he has a good deal for us Supra people :)
