I think my rear-end is leeking gear fluid.i wiped the bottom of the pumkin and the fluid looks like the same color as my transmission fluid.I thought that the gear fluid is brown or black.I'm thinking of unloosen the mid area nut and check out if the fluid is low or when i'm driving that the transmission fluid is'nt driping back to the rear-end.last,what kind of fluid do i use to put in the rear axle?
For an LSD - 75W-90 with friction modifier
For an open differential - straight 75W-90

You are right gear oil is is a darker color good tranny fluid should be like cherry red if darker it could be a lil burnt depending on age. But i would check rear main seal for leakage. make even check your drive shaft both parts if you haven't replaced it with a 1 piece. When take out the bolt in the rear differential. just put your finger in and if you feel oil its full if you have to extend your finger deeper down its low don't try to overfill it past the bolt hole,
Good luck

Dont mean to hijack but I have a open diff with high miles(over 200k) and was wondering if plain 75w-90 would be the way to go or would something else work better?
