Hey everyone,

Are there any differences between 1JZ-GTE's on different cars. For example, is the 1JZ-GTE engine and parts the same in a Supra, Soarer, Chaser, Verossa, Crown... I know the water pumps are different in a supra and a soarer. But other than that, are there any other parts different between the these cars?

Just wondering, since you said that they all have the different engine harness, would I be correct to assume that if I have a 1jz from a Chaser, that I will need the same engine loom? Or can I use a JZA70 engine loom with a Chaser 1jz. I always though I could do this no problem since I am replacing my 1jz from a JZA70 with a fresh engine from a Chaser. I thought it would just be a matter of changing the sump over from the JZA70 1jz and a few other odds and ends and I would have a running engine. I hope I don't have to find a Chaser engine loom or hack up my current one .

2 door cars = mid(rear) ump. Supra, Soarer

4 door cars = front sump. JZX series cars

doing it that way then yes it should work fine. if you are talking about that you already have a JZA70 engine harness and JZA70 ECU, and just want to buy a chaser longblock, then yes everything should work after switching pans. although, why not buy a JZA70 1J?

Not buying another JZA70 1J as they are not as easy to come by, tend to have more k's on them, and wasn't for sale at the same time that the JZX90 1J was :). Buying the complete engine minus loom and ecu, but I have been told that the JZA70 and JZX90 1J's are the same, and if not I can just swap over anything that doesn't match up right?

does anyone know what the actual differences are between motor brackets on a soarer 1j and a supra 1j? like how can i tell the difference by just looking at the engine?

Well they look skinnier and longer and on the intake side the fuel pressure regulator is not mounted on the motor mount and on the jza70 mounts it is mounted on the mount/bracket.

sorry, i think i get what your saying, but could you be a little more specific with what "they" are, (they = soarer or supra) and do you mean the fpr is mounted on the mount on the soarer or the supra?
thanks and sorry for the confusion

Yes JZA70 is the code for supra in japan. In the US it's MA70... If you're not sure about the codes just google it. Thats what I did a while ago.

Try not to post things as fact without doing some research to verify it....:nono:

trev he was saying the supra 1j has a fuel damper mounted to the driver's side motor mount.it is the feed for the fuel rail which run's to the back of the fuel rail.i have no idea how it is on a soarer, but i can send you a couple of pic's of my mount's if you want.
this pic doesn't show alot but maybe it will help.driver's side
