Raptor Racing

Product Description
After a long delay these systems are finally in stock and ready for sale. These 3" Raptor Racing Cat Back Exhaust System come with the following piping options:
• Aluminized Steel
• Ceramic Coated Aluminized Steel (Black or ‘Polished’)
• Powder Coated Aluminized Steel
• Stainless Steel
All cat back piping comes with a resonator; zinc plated hardware; stainless clamp and gaskets. You won't have to go to your local muffler shop to install this; it's a bolt in system.
We took long and hard to pick the muffler with the right look; sound and quality; we finally settled on Magnaflow Mufflers. For us the MK3 is an old school car and needed that twin tip old school muffler. The Magnaflow 14815(3” tips) & 14816(3.5” tips) mufflers perfectly fit this role; only one problem: it’s a 2.25” input. We came with an easy but extremely effective solution; since there are 2 x 2.25 tubes(way more than enough flow) running the length of the muffler from the tips to the base we simply cut off the 2.25” input at the base; we then expand this to 3” and weld on a 3” section of pipe. In essence we created our own Maganflow muffler.
If you wanted to you use your own muffler you easily could as long as the dimensions were similar to the Magnaflow; please enquire for details.
Build Time
Depending on the muffler you order lead time to have the product shipped out ranges from 1 day for cat back piping only to 2 weeks if you need a powdercoated muffler. We regularly stock powdercoated muffler so this won’t always be a problem but I just want to be clear that if it’s not in stock it takes at least 2 weeks to get the muffler ‘built’ and coated.

Please note: These are Canadian Designed and Produced products with 100% fitment guarantee. They look identical to ebay mk3 piping (that doesn't fit the mk3) as it is a copy of My MK2 catback piping. Just wanted to make that clear...I'm here if you have any questions about any of my products.

It is a low tone and not too loud. It has no drone at highway speeds due to the resonator which was very important to me. At higher RPM it's louder but nothing compared to the "fart can" exhausts which are very popular.
My pipe routing is extremely similar to this kit but not 100% identical. Mine was built on my car using the same resonator and muffler (3.5" tips). Mine is the aluminized steel without any coating and I have no corrosion issues after a few years of use. If I was buying it today I would have it ceramic coated for the extra protection and inherent thermal advantages.
I highly recommend this exhaust and George is a great guy to deal with. Here are some shot of my car with this exhaust.

i will be buying a cat from you shortly george, as i have no intention of running cat-less this year!! can you tell me the length of the cat? because last year i bought a testpipe from ya, i think it might of been a bit short, by like an inch or so.
Raptor Racing
03-05-2008, 08:57 PM
Mark;
stock length is 11 3/8"...but 11.5" works perfectly too. Can you please verify the length of that test pipe I sent you....there should have been NO fitment issues with it as I've sold countless units with no problems. If a mistake was made on my part then you just earned yourself a free cat...no not a Bengal as those things are hella spensive :biglaugh:
Jamie; thanks so much for posting pictures as I had no shots of the muffler uncoated. Also wanted to officially thank you for the use of your car to build and test the jigs for the cat back and the divorced downpipes. Seeing my car was out of commission I couldn't have done any of it without you...MAJOR Kudos’s and Thanks to you bro!!!

What did the dyno end up vs stock?
The dyno was 281 hp, 337 tq.
The car had a Raptor Racing DDP (rerouted), this exhaust, 3" high flow cat, and an MBC set at 10 lbs (peaked at 13 but quickly settled to 10).

Can you install as well? I want to get a 3" turbo-back done in May. Would the divorced downpipes be ready then?
Raptor Racing
03-08-2008, 10:53 PM
Yes we can offer that service; assuming your old system comes of without issues install will be $50. Divorced Downpipes are ready now; I just haven't had the chance to do the write up and finalize the pricing.

Words I wanted to hear
Glad to hear that. I've liked the style of this exhaust, and really glad that someone has expanded the opening to 3". I'm sick and tired of my Apexi N1. That F'er is too damn loud, drones terribly, and is just a nuisance. I feel like yelling "sorry" everytime I go by people. I want something that'll sound good, be decently loud at high loads, but quiet enough i can stroll through small towns and not get people pissed off at me.
I'll probably be ordering one by the time summer rolls around.
sweetlikechutny
03-10-2008, 08:31 PM
would you also be able to provide a generic 3" gutted cat? (Need to pass visual inspection, cops are a pain in Kitchener)
Raptor Racing
03-10-2008, 09:02 PM
We don't 'gut' cats for customer; it's a highly illegal activity that we strongly do NOT recommend. I have personally been pulled over by the 'environmental police' this past summer in a customr/friends car. Let me tell you if he didn't have a cat his car would have been going for a ride.
The pulled out an infrared gun and measured the temp before the cat; on the cat and after the cat...if those 3 temperatures are the same you just earned your self either a VERY big ticket or a free ride on a tow truck.
Totally NOT worth it for the couple HP you'll gain; but obviously it's your choice in the end.

Is this exhaust louder, quiter, or about the same as the tanabe? (really hard to tell by the video)
I want to quiet down my car a bit, and I don't like the single tip on the tanabe, but the sound qualities I do like. I can't stand any droning on the highway either as it wears me out faster than the actual driving...
Definately interested, and it's about time someone made a dual tip exhaust (besides S2, but I can't get my hands on that one)
Raptor Racing
03-12-2008, 08:54 AM
I've only heard the Tanabe on a 1J so it wouldn't be a fair comparison; but to me the Tanabe w/1j was louder than the RR w/7mgte but not by much. The system isn't silent like an HKS SuperDragger but at idle/low throttle it's nowhere close to loud...it's basically as silent as your right foot.
I think sawbladz above answer your droning concerns, he's had his on his car for at least a full season. Honestly; do NOT be shy to ask him anything; he's a picky SOB and I ask him not to sugar coat anything. I'd rather someone know and understand the product fully before it is sold so there are no after sale issue if you know what I mean.
On a side note as I'm sure somebody will ask: the muffler tips are lined up to be as flush with the rear bumper as possible. I have never been a fan of system where the muffler is 'hidden'; to me a sexy exhaust system MAKES the car so why hide it.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Not only that, most factory exausts stick out to keep carbon off the bodywork.
Looks like I finally found who I'm buying my exhaust from ;)

Oooh, this is a tempting alternative to the Tanabe which I've been planning to get. My exhaust right now is loud and I hate it, so I'm looking for a replacement. Any idea when you guys will know if this or the Tanabe is quieter on a 7M?
Also, I'm very interested in downpipes and what sort of options you have, any news on those?
Raptor Racing
03-18-2008, 05:38 PM
Can't say I'll ever know what is quieter; until somebody local gets one I'll never know and so far nobody local is looking for one as they're grabbing these bad boys :).
The DDP's will basically have NO options; all them will come with full loaded with: flex section; wideband bung; re-routed and ceramic coating. I'm just a little delayed with the write up and putting them up for sale. The first batch was made with a divider plate for the original HKS Sport Turbo's. I wasn't even thinking when making the jig that the HKS Sport Turbo's are little wider than standard CT's so I need to grind some material off the divider flange before putting them up for sale....they're already fully built just waiting to do that. With all the other stuff on my plate just haven't had the chance to get that done.

03-28-2008, 01:57 AM
In case there is any doubt; not that I have any issues with Chinese-made products (as i sell some myself) but these MK3 systems are 100% prototyped; jigged and made in Canada; using Canadian metal; welded by Canadian Welders; test fit on a North America MK3's with a 1billion% fitment guarantee.
I don't want this piping to be confused with ebay MK3 piping that is NOT actually MK3 piping. It looks EXACTLY the same as the ebay piping as it is a copy of MY MK2 piping. The problem is NOT with the china made piping it's with the vendors who sell you parts that they assume will fit. Folks you get what you pay for and the more you support the vendors who have NO idea what they are selling the more you support the demise of the 'enthusiast aftermarket' support.
Sorry; that is my 2 minute rant...thank you so much for checking out my vendor section. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Yea I know. I had to do so much freakin work to my ebay 1jz Y-pipe to make it just fit into the turbos.. and the DP is a good 3" short of the "STOCK CAT LOCATION!!!!"... Ugh. Which is why when I buy the muffler from RR (which i will with my tax refund), i won't be orderign piping.. cause it'll all have to be custom to meet up with the jacked up ebay shit. Ugh again.
And hey, we have some frickin incredible microbrews! Rogue Brewery FTW!!!!

damn... the spun ones are really nice, from what I've read they flow quite a bit more since their transition is smoother...
I'm assuming the clamp is need to mount the muffler to the piping, right?
Do you happen to have any pics of a powdercoated muffler mounted? Pretty much the only thing hagging me up on my choice...
Raptor Racing
04-08-2008, 09:19 PM
The systems come with a standard U-Bolt Clamp; if you choose not to weld the muffler on the piping you'll need to use the ubolt clam. I HIGHLY recommend upgrading to the torctite clamp...it's worth the extra few bux.
I would normally include them in the systems but I have had a few customers in the past that wanted to weld the muffer to the piping so it wouldn't be fair to them to make them pay for a part they wouldn't need.
I don't have any pix of the p/c'd muffler on a MK3. I have some with my systems on a MK2 but I'm sure that's not what you're looking for. All my local customers have decided to stay with the blingy look...personally on my White MK3 I'll be sporting the p/c'd muffler...just gives it more of an old school look IMHO.

Sorry I don't have pix of the piping installed on a MK3...other than the ones that Sawbladz posted on the first page. Below are some pix of the setup we have for the MK2; I had H&R springs on my MK3 so NOBODY is more picky than me...trust me on that. Grim;
I have a black ceramic coated system in stock ready to go. In regards to the muffler I can do whatever the customer wants to it; just keep in mind that 'custom' coating takes at LEAST one week to get done. I've personally never seen one fully coated (including) tips so have no idea what it will look like.

I have one have 1 set of adjustables left in stock (in Canada) that I'm selling for $370 + shipping($25)/taxes. I have no non adjustables in stock but can get them...the only concern is Whiteline just introduced a VERY STRICT venodor price guideline and cheapest I can go (without getting my account in jeopardy) is:
Front non-Adjustable: $174.03
Rear non-Adjustable: $174.03
Shipping to Canada would be about $20 to get to Buffalo and another $25 from Toronto to you. So in the end they adjustables are I have in stock are basically the same price as any future non-adjustable purchases. Let me know if you have any more questions or if I just confused the poop out of you.

If I had a rerouted DP it would be a lot easier to compare. The Tanabe is quieter at idle than this from memory, though I could be wrong.
Hopefully there is a car with the tanabe at the hill country cruise in the fall for me to compare it to...

The systems are sold with an optional torc-tite clamp pictured below; 99% of my customers have gone this route vs. welding...it just makes taking the system on/off that much easier when it's not welded.

Nice! What are you running for your Cat & DP, and how well does everything tuck-up under the car? I'm obsessing about a new Exh system & mulling my options. Talked with George and I'm still undecided.
Is a DDP all the shizle, even re-routed, or would an open elbow plenum in, lets say, a LIPP 3" elbow or other one-piece elbow-n-DP combo (bic, china...) flow just as well?
Thanks.

^ I have a bic dp, not divorced, and exhaust depot high flow. My pipe was sitting against the transmission support. Caused a vibration at 2000 rpm. I had to adjust the hangers to get it away. I'm thinking of trimming down some of the edge of the support to give me more room.

Im interested in this setup as its much easier to order from a vendor in Canada, I have an N/A though and im looking for a quiet exhaust but not some crush bent POS that id get at Midas or some other muffler shop.
Right now I have the Pacesetter system and im not happy with it, its too raspy. It really opened up the car over the stock exhaust, mid to high RPM power is way better but I noticed a significant power loss in lower RPM's.

IY;
I have not heard this setup on an n/a as of yet; I can say that on a turbo system it is NOT loud at all simply because the turbo muffles a lot of the 'noise'.
I do have plans on making a 2.5" MK3 N/A catback setup as well building a MK3 n/a downpipe for my 6 into 1 MK2 header. This header had 0 HP loss; it gained at every RPM range over the factory manifold. Unfortunately time has not been on my side this year and winter is quickly approaching here.

Free flowing exhaust on an N/A is going to be raspy no matter what you do. My bro's MKII has much the same exhaust as me and it's a lot louder than mine with a bit of rasp.

Personally I went with stainless steel as if you scratch it, it won't rust.
The other two might rust. The ceramic coated one will keep the heat in better, and the powdercoated one is the cheapest route but still has a durable finish.

From a performance standpoint the ceramic coated piping would be the best one of the three. Keep in mind though that the performance benefits aren't earth shattering. I'm unfortunately going to have to raise the pricing on the ceramic coated kits due to increased material costs...I've been trying to avoid this as it really puts the price of the ceramic coated kit higher than I'd like but at least the option is still there.
The ceramic and powder coating also protect the metal from corrosion, but as Poodles pointed out once scratched that protection is gone. Even so locally (US/CANADIAN) aluminized steel is very resilient so it wouldn't be a huge concern for me.
So all things being equal my personal choice would be the ceramic coated piping. A very very very close 2nd would the stainless...so close that I might have to flip a coin when I make the decision for my car.
Not sure if that answers your question, but ideally in my opinion there is no best...it's a matter of personal preference.

I've pondered getting an intake done of the 7mge because there is really not much to it. If you're just looking for a dry filter Amsoi's EA filters and AEM's DryFlows are the way to go...pm'ing you about this.

Hey Edmonton, I have my own Divorced Downpipes...just have had NO time to take 'PROPER' pix and do the write up post. Pricing for them is $575usd shipped (+taxes if applicable). I can also get Titan Donwpipes for you $350usd (+taxes/shipping if you're in Canada). To give you an idea the Divorced Downpipes feature:
Thick CNC 3/8" Flanges
Re-routed wastegate pipe
Flex Section
Factory and Wideband O2 bung(with plug)
Professionally Ceramic Coated in your choice of Black or Silver(Polished).
All gaskets, hardware and Shipping to Canada/USA

Raptor Racing MK3 Divorced Downpipe **FREE SHIPPING**
Price: $575
Part Number: Raptor-7m-DDP
Photo Location:
For those of you not familiar with the concept of divorced downpipes I will explain it briefly. The theory behind this is that by separating the paths for the turbine and wastegate you are creating less turbulence in the elbow region…less turbulence=greater efficiency; greater efficiency=more power…more power=if I have to tell you this please don’t buy this…J/K :).
By using a Raptor Racing Divorced Downpipe along with a Raptor Racing Cat back system (with a testpipe); Mike Malloy (owner of www.celicasupra.com ) was able to go from 225rwhp(239lb-ft) with a 'stock' setup to 267rwhp(280lb-ft) on a Mustang Dyno.

Non group buy pricing of the DDP is above about 9 posts up. The 2.5" systems will more than likely be the same price as the 3" systems:
3.0" Aluminized Cat Back Piping Only (includes hardware and gaskets): $255
3.0" Stainless Steel Cat Back Piping Only (includes hardware and gaskets): $360
I'm trying really hard to get the pricing lower but the difference between 2.5" and 3" piping is not that large.

Alec;
From a design point of view I'd say the main difference is how the exhaust is re-routed. From a sales/configuration point of view I don't offer options where as BIC does. With mine the only way it comes is: Re-routed; Wideband Bung; Flex and Coated. The only option is pick up or shipping :). Got your email...replying to it as we speak.
