I'm building on a budget and I have a few questions. Are the stock rod for a 89T forged and how would compare shot peened stock rods to eagle rods? What is the maxium hp which you would trust shot peened stock rods w/arp bolt.

You will spend 50% of the cost of eagle rods, just to prep the stock rods.

Stock rods are forged, and peened..

But I doubt they are stronger than the Eagle ones.

I like my Pauter rods, but they are not on a budget. (But they are most likely the last thing to fail on my motor.)

Save a couple more dollers and buy some eagle rods from SIP (suprarich). He hooked me up with a great deal!!!

Stock rods are generally good for 500HP. If your power goals exceed that buy Eagles or Pauters.

Pauters or Crowers? Which one will hold together longer and and is designed better?

Eagles too, has anyone really destroyed one yet?

Pauter and Crower will both probably outlast the motor.

I guess it just depends on your goal for your car. Stock rods are fine for 550rwhp+ just prep them and you'll be fine. It's the pistons that tend to fail first as they take most of the abuse. I have stock pistons with Je pistons and they have been fine for over 4 years with 400rwhp+ and 15+ trips to the track and tons of abuse.

Now I have another motor that I'll be building up for 600rwhp, and I'll be using the titan je pistons with eagle rods.
