Now available is another one of a kind BIC custom made part for the MK3 Supra.

These are fully bolt on replacement engine torque strut's with poly bushings, with no modfications needed to install. They replace the stock torque "shock" found in on 87-89 turbo Supras. After 15+ years the stock "shocks" wear out or leak and offer very little or no dampening to engine movement. The BIC torque struts prevent execess engine movement and will help the engine mounts last longer by absorbing the twist of the engine under hard acceleration and shifting. These reduce engine movement by over 50%, which helps put the power to the ground and is also bennificial if running a large turbo that may come into contact of the strut tower or a/c lines.

The 87-89 versions are available now, and the 89+ versions will requier mounting brackets which are being fabricated now, and should be available in a week or two. 1jz versions are also in the works and should be available this spring / summmer.

The intro price is only $35 + $9 shipping anywhere in the USA or Canada. It is not yet listed on our website so you here at Supramania have the first chance to pick one up. Email me or send Paypal to bicperformance@yahoo.ca . These are in stock and you will see them in 1-2 weeks from when you place your order.

Dang it. I thought it was for 1JZ already.. guess I have to wait.

Also since I can't figure out where that is mounted, can you tell me? I never knew supra had stock engine shocks. Is there any way to gurrantee for it to go on if so? Because Im sure allot of supra swaps are missing bolts and brackets all over the place and in the picture it seems your product is mounted onto something else before the block itself.. I have NEVER seen that on my car before. Could that be a problem?

Sorry if that sounds confusing.

Nice! Somehow I suspect it won't do much with solid engine mounts, or I'd buy one right away... :(

Sorry if that sounds confusing. That's the wing brace that connects the block to the bell housing. There is one on both sides of the engine.

The actual assembly has been removed on MANY Supras - I remember trying to find an intact one at a meet once just to prove that it really did exist at one point, and we couldn't.

^^ Ah thanks... So can BIC make a mount just in case that other piece is no longer on the supra? Mine DOES not have that. And I bet the 1JZ will not either.

The brackets only came originally on 87-89 turbo cars. Dave is right, many cars have had them removed or lost, but we should have bolt on replacement brackets ready in a few weeks for those that dont have them, 89+ cars or if they have been lost. Keep an eye on this thread for thier release.

It is located under the intake manifold right behind the drivers side motor mount. The pic is taken from beside the trans looking towards the front of the car.

The 1jz/2jz block is very different, there isnt much room on the block to bolt it to but we wil figure something out.

my question is how is spring rate of the poly vs. the stock strut (new of course)? If its too stiff i would worry about breaking/bending (esentially weakening them over time through vibration causing failure) other components where the stress/strain would then be transferred to...of course this would only be a concern for the high hp/tq cars but still something to think about. Looking at the pic you posted i would be only really be concerned with the chassis mount but i've never really looked closely there so i don't know how sturdy it is.

Thanks, Randy, for improving what we can do with these vehicles!

I havent worked out the pricing yet, I will have a better idea once the prodution versions are complete. But it will still be fair, should be well under $100 complete with the strut, brackets and hardware.

Would I need one on my N/A (I have my old intact, I remember it moving quite freely (though I read, that it gets stiffer as you move the strut faster))? What do you think?
How much shipped to Estonia, Harjumaa, Harku vald, Paju tee 2, 76902 ?

The 89+ 7m mounting brackets should be done this week. It will be a few more weeks to do a 1jz damper as there is nothing on the block in the stock location to bolt it to.

How much power can stock 89+ motor mounts hold with this dampener? Will they hold 500rwhp without ripping apart? I just don't want the shakes that you get from solid mounts.

Just went to order one for my Pre89

any reason why shipping is $15 vs. the $9 stated on the first post??

flubyux2
03-17-2008, 01:28 AM
i found out why the pre-89 damper assy wont bolt directly onto an 89+ car. the upper-rear bolt hole of the engine mount is "countersunk" in a way so that there is a shroud of aluminum around it. also, the fuel pipe/FPD (1jz cars) has a mounting boss on the upper-rear corner of the engine mount. i had to get out my die grinder and remove the shroud of material around the upper-rear bolt hole as well as the top edge of the fuel pipe mounting boss in order to get the pre-89 damper to bolt onto my car. the other 3 mounting points are the same.

just a little FYI if anyone isnt beyond a little grinding and wants to order Randy's Pre-89 damper kit :)

i knew someone would ask for pics sooner or later. i didnt take any pics of my progress since i was under the car doing all of this. i can probably do some "dramatic reenactment" and get a few pics since i have a few spare motor mounts... can you give me some time? im not sure when i can get them for you.

I have seen then on some of the cars I have parted. But for some reason, I didn't have one anywhere to be found when I installed my motor. I have always sold them. I would love to have a new one, but I have a few other parts to get first.

yay! i love being useful.

i also thought my stock strut i got from Tubbie was shot too. but then i remembered him saying it was a goo like found in a VLSD; the snot thickens up as its agitated. so, i pumped it several times and it went from being sloppy to tight and wouldnt allow me to extend or collapse it as quickly or as far as initially.

Randy... you should send me the pre89 damper so i can verify that it fits with the pre89 bracketry that i retrofitted so we can guarantee fitment.... (with minor grinding) :biglaugh:

Even a stock damper in good shape will not do half as much as the BIC damper, it still allows for a lot of engine movement.

Flub- pm me and we can work something out

So Randy, how goes the 1J dampener progress? I really need one.

becauseican
03-28-2008, 12:19 PM
We are working on the 89+ mounting brackets right now. The prototypes are done, we are just working on the jigs. The 89+ setup will use a slightly different TQ damper, as Flub showed, it takes removing the stock bracket and grinding/ machining to get the oem brackets to fit, so we are redesigning the bracket/ strut so its a completly bolt on unit. I will have pics and pricing up next week.

Honestabe- You dont need the TQ damper with solid motor or poly mounts..... we make both style mounts for pre 89 cars!!

The difference being the stock units are "torque dampers" yours are "torque limiters" ;)

flubyux2
03-28-2008, 07:22 PM
randy; gonna pm you in a min. as far as making a diff upper bracket for the 89+ TQ "limiter", you could base it off the pre89 unit, just add 4mm spacers (like flat washers) to the mating face of the bracket and spot weld it in 4 places. being that the bolts are 10mm x 1.25 (iirc), they should be able to withstand a little additional side loading created from spacing the mounting point out a few more mm away from the mating surface.

I hope to have some for the 1jz sometime in May/ June.

The 89+ versions are finnished and the first batch is ready. The strut is a diferent length than the pre 89 ones, and it also includes the top and bottom haevy duty brackets and hardware. I will post pics and pricing in May once I am back from my vacation.
