I was thinking about painting the stock Intake Manifold Flat Black. i used it on my cam covers and it looks HOT.
i'm wondering if it'd look good or not. im not too sure
i searched and found a pic of a 7M with his FFIM painted flat black. i think it looks pretty sweet. what do you guys think?

Go for Satin Black it's easier to keep clean :)

well the paint i got was a Low gloss black. looks satin not really flat. guess i should change that.
I had mine Coated with a Heat Dispersant coating, it's a little bit too shiny but should dull down to Satin in use.

There's a whole bunch of pics here (http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49676&page=3) ;)

Nice. your's looks to have a little flake in it. i noticed you didn't paint the throttle body. i Almost think i'd have to paint mine to flow better but im not sure.
your's is a nice aftermarket piece so i wouldn't have it coated either.
LOL I made most of it :)
I left it natural Al to break up the Black a bit in the Bay.

nice
in the process of painting it now
i'll post pics when done
EDIT: done painting. Definitely looks like a Satin Finish. My bro-in-law and i sat out there and painted it up. and he helped me get a cross-threaded bolt in my NEW TiAL WG. pissed me off. but owell. just need to drill out the holes now :(

i left the lower silver. its not even really visible but i MIGHT take it off tomorrow after work and paint it anyways. im getting ready to run out for some small groceries so i'll buy more satin black while im out to do the lower runner.

i hear ya.i just hate when aluminum get's all oxidation on it.i do my own powdercoating at home,so it only racks up the electric bill;)
the stealth look will be good i'm sure.i've seen a couple on the forumns before, but can't remember who's.beside sir IJ that is

yea i dunno who's that is in the original pic i posted. i found it when i searched for "Painted Intake Manifold." and some guy posted them.
i love how it looks. i painted it up but im gonna do a few more coats so it doesn't chip easily and scratch and show the oiginal aluminum. it will be SWEET when its all back together.

As long as you contrast the intake manifold with a different color throttle body or a polished intercooler pipe it looks good.
The Reaper
01-01-2008, 09:02 PM
yea im gonna leave my TB the nomal aluminum color. and later when i do IC piping i'll get them powder coated chome
My IC and Pipes got the Satin Black as well :)

im gonna do the lower runners tomorrow. and i see you did your TB too. i think it'd look incomplete with the TB not painted.
OT: i love the TRD tower bar. pure sex

i would PC mine but im doing this out of pure boredom and a cheap alternative. looks just as good but no wait and cheaper. and no its not the whole "i'm a typical MKIII owner so i half ass everything and im poor" i could afford to get it PC'd but this is easier and quicker and im bored. :)

I think that the black in the white engine bay looks great. I may go that route.

Thanks for the compliment about the TRD Strut Tower bar. It's for a mk4 Supra. I cut the braces apart, shortened the bar and rewelded it myself. Then painted it black.
I wouldn't paint the intake manifold without painting the throttle body with it. It blens in and looks like it's part of the manifold if painted with it. After I painted the manifold, I put the TB up to it and it just didn't look right.

Here's another picture. Not as fuzzy and gives a different angle of the throttle body.

The Supe can't be your only transpo. Your wife has a car. Use that one for baby transport. If she doesn't, go buy a Kia.
The Reaper
01-02-2008, 03:24 PM
nah she has one. but we will be working seperate shifts. my job goes 3pm-1am hers goes 8-5 so it over laps. and we will be working at sperate ends of the county soon.
the only reason i might keep it is cause the baby will be in my car for a total of 15 mins a day anytime we go out as a fam we will take her car.

lol yea. we'll see what happens. I'm short on dough and with the kid i will be REALLY short. so i wont be doing much with the supe anyways
i might sell might not. but i'm leaning towards the selling part.

I don't think I took anything off. Mostly, I just taped off what I didn't want sprayed. I did three coats. Also make sure that everything is really clean before painting. I'm sure you knew that though.
