ok so im rebiulding my motor
so i have TWO questions:
one:
i need new cams
do the GTE cams work for the GE motor or not?(i have a guy that i can get cams from but his are only GTE)
if not does anyone have a set of good cams for a GE motor that i can buy?
second question:
i need new cam caps
on that im fucked seeing as i cant buy them from Toyota
since each cam cap is bored to the fucking head
SO does anyone have a nice set of them at all?
these are the only things i need left in my rebuild

or is it possible to use the exsisting cam caps or "refinfish them"
or a place or website i can get them from?

if you guys could help me out, that would be GREAT

thanks alot

im not sure if you can refinish cam caps or not but i have a full set of them on a head im not using and its prolly gonna be thrown away if you can refinish them and you want them.

the GTE cams will work fine in the GE head but their diffrent specs so im not sure how it would run.

I know they can re cut the caps. they cut the bottom of the caps, then tighten them back on and come in with a machine tool and re cut the caps to factory specs.

They can do the same thing with rods if you spin a bearing and it damages the rods a little.

but i think it may be bad if journals are damaged. dunno bout those...

Yes you can use the GTE cams.
The exhaust should be identical & the intake has slightly higher lift & 10 degrees more duration.
I used the intake in my GE & got slightly better performance.
As far as the cam caps you would have to take them & the head to a machine shop that can line bore the set.
The caps & the head is machined as one unit & if you use caps from another engine it will no longer be perfectly round & your clearances will be stuffed.

Now I have heard of GE cams increasing performance in the GTE motors. I don't see the logic in how GTE cams will make a GE function better. Does anyone have a dyno sheet of GTE cams in a GE that can post up?
