what the regular price on the vrp50s? on how will it spool on a 1jz?

Spoolin turbo

I would go VRP57 on a 1JZ. That will still spool extremely fast. The VRP50S might be a tad too small.

I put my VRP67 journal bearing backup turbo on my 94 mk4 for fun just to see what it would make. Turbo has a 70a/r exhaust housing. P-trim exhaust wheel.

I was using my VPC/SAFC to tune, but the tune was pretty decent from the street so I did not adjust it.
All runs done with pump gas and meth.
Still have to do some tuning, but im waiting on my triple ball bearing turbo to come in so im just driving the car like this.

I dynoed the car at 20psi then 21psi.
20psi - 592rwhp/499rwtrq
21psi - 602rwhp/507rwtrq
21psi - 603rwhp/499rwtrq

what are the mods for your car.

ive been looking at different 67mm turbos for awhile. still wondering how it would perform on a 7m.

Spoolin turbo
05-30-2008, 06:06 PM
20 over pistons
rods
272 cams.

I think this turbo will work like a charm on a 7M but you should go with an 84a/r exhaust housing since the stroke of the 7M will spool the turbo faster than on a 2JZ.

Just got these new VRP tbb turbos in and wanted to share some pics. I have the VRP72TBB and VRP76TBB. The pics dont do justice since the flash is taking away from the shine of the compressor housing, but the turbos spin sooo freely and smooth.
The 72 has their new MQ exhaust wheel which is suppose to spool like a p-trim but make more power.
The 76 has their new Super-X exhaust wheel and the new high flow 76 wheel.

Spoolin turbo
07-26-2008, 01:04 PM
The a/r is an 84a/r exhaust housing 3" vband.
If you are using the MP70 with the 96a/r this thing will spool a tad quicker. That MP setup spools in the low 5K range. This should be full up around 4900rpm.

Hey man I just PM'ed you my number. I work at 5 central time.

But I might get the 61mm instead of the 67mm because cams are out of my reach for at least 6 more months. Had to sleep on it but I guess we can talk about it over the phone or in the PMs. But if you can find me a 64mm by the end of the day or within the week that would be perfectosssss. Thanks.

Great guy to talk to and very friendly to put his time out to help me. Cant wait to get the turbo in and make some serious number over the 61mm.

Hey.... i just got a t80 from VRP.... I gotta say the customer service is great! The turbo looks pretty cool too.... BUT here is one or two things i found out about once i got the turbo. The oil drain is going to be sorta tricky, clearance is limited(-10an fittings/huge compressor cover). secondly...this turbo i believe has a built in feed-line restrictor(which is good for BallBearing turbos).Oh and also it has water inlets/outlets :) I hope this turbo is going to be killer! thanks for the hookup

Glad you like the turbo. Here are answers to your questions. I figured I would post here so everyone is informed.
Remember you need to clock the turbo into the position you want it. And that hose you are putting on in the bottom picture is on the feed line.

I would recommend -3an or -4an on the oil feed.
The oil feed has a built in restrictor.

For the oil return set the oil return flange with fittings where you want them to be in place. Bolt that on and then put the compressor cover on.
Or once you put your oil drain flange on there use a straight adapter fitting and have it reach down past the compressor cover so you can connect a bigger drain hose. I use a -10AN on mine with no problem.
Have fun with the turbo.

Also how do you like the weight of the lightweight CHRA I got you. That turbo should be around 22-23lbs from what I remember. A LOT lighter and less stress on the exhaust manifold.

turbo clock doesnt really matter with this, as my exhaust side isn't going to move, only the compressor(and its already about where it needs to be)& this IS the drain side, as the inlet does not have holes tapped or even drilled for a flange. Im going to have to rig up a 45* bent to clear the housing. I havent got the car running yet, but ill be sure to post on the outcome.thnks again

You are correct, I apologize. I just realized that you had the drain flange there and that made it look smaller.

its cool man, nobody's perfect lol I am having trouble however getting a drain to fit... I tried a Female Flange w/ male 10an 45* and it hit...even after i shaved the 45* piece. I am going to try this tubular female 45* thats mounting on a "Function7" Male 10an flange as soon as it comes in, i hope it clears...although it will be real close. Do you happen to know what the thread/size is on the drain mount??? its somewhere between 8mm & 10mm....(unless its maybe sae?) thanks again

what would you suggest for:

a goal of around 450-500rwhp
divided T4 housing
vband exhaust outlet (3" or 3.5")
thermal coating on exhaust housing and center section
fast spool
standard journal bearing (?, doubt I would need bb)
antisurge (worth the cost?)

would the VRP67 work? or the 61S?

Spoolin turbo
06-03-2009, 11:21 PM
61S will do the trick for you and have room for more. As for journal vs tbb, we have drifter 240 guys running the tbb version over journal identical but they love the acceleration from the tbb. All depends on what you are looking for.
My responses might be late for the next 2 weeks so I am apologizing in advance.
If you have questions please feel free to contact me at 416-409-8478
Thanks Ryan
