New RR Parts: Carbon Fiber Lower Windshield Trim (Cowl)

[Raptor Racing]

We’ve been trying for months to finally get our hands on this and we finally secured a deal with the manufacturer. This is a bolt in Carbon Fiber (or Fibre for Canadians J) Windshield Cowl for the MK3. Please note that this will ONLY fit left hand drive cars. For the time being there are no plans to make a RHD unit.

As said it’s a bolt in part that requires NO modification; simply re-use your factory mounting hardware and you’re good to go. If you’ve been to a Toronto Supra Club meet then you’ve seen this in person on a few of the local MK3 and can attest to the quality. These are NOT cheap overseas units; these are locally designed and manufactured parts.

Unfortunately this is the only picture I have as it’s near impossible to get a good indoor pix now and it’s too cold to get a picture of it outside :). I will try to get a better picture in the next couple of days:

UPDATED PURCHASE INSTRUCTIONS

These will no longer be stocked; they will be made at the time of order. Depending on the time of month it will take at least a couple weeks (from time of payment) to get the part built and for me to pick them up from the supplier. I meet with the supplier first Friday of every month so keep that in mind when considering a purchase.

If I notice sales pick up I will return to stocking them but for now they will be on a made to order bases.

Not yet and I've searched my pc and can't find anything :(...had I have known I was going to be selling them I would have taken detailed on car pix this summer.

I will say this though: I will offer a $50 rebate to the first person that buys one AND takes EXCELLENT pictures of it on the car. What this means is you'd pay regular price and when you submit me a series of clear pix with great lighting I will send refund $50 of your purchase price. What does 'clear' pix mean...well it means leave your camera phone where it belongs: in your pocket. I will not give any refunds on dark; poor lighting; out of focus pix; helps if the car is in half decent shape too.

If I hadn't been buying a driveshaft, I would have already bought this item. My window trim at the bottom has rusted on the passengers side. I've painted it twice, but it would look so much better with a carbon fiber piece. Hopefully we will get to see pictures soon.

It has a very very minor imperfection in the CF that's almost impossible to spot in pictures...I've taken about 12 shots but still can't get a good shot of it. just finished chatting with the company who makes these; not the best news. A group buy would do very little for pricing; they are made in small batches and they only have 1 mould so ordering 20+ units would only drop the price a few dollar...like $10 the most. IMHO it's really not worth the hassle and trouble for $10 so for now I'm going to have to leave well enough alone...I just can't see 20 people jumping in for a $10 saving.

Update:

Ok folks this is an FYI...NOT a scare tactic: I have 2 more units left. One is MINT the other has the slight imperfections that I mentioned a few posts above ($250 for that one).

Once both of these are gone I personally will not be ordering more units to stock. If people want them I'll still be able to get them but will need a minimum of 2 sold in order to initiate a purchase. For the time being it's just not worth having a few hundred dollars worth of cowls sitting in stock for 2-3 months. Please keep in mind that if I don't stock them there will be a wait time as he 2hrs away from me

Never did make one for the RHD. Ideally the only way to do that is with a group buy with folks pre-paying deposits before the units are even done. Not something most peeps would be into but I'd need guaranteed sales to pay for the new mold as RHD units would not be huge sellers.
