ok this might be a really dumb question, but i was wondering if there was any way you can tell if you have stock injectors in your 1j or not... the reason being is because im having a problem where when i mash my foot on the gas pedal it seems to hesitate in higher rpms. BUT when i gradually increase on the throttle it doesnt do that. im guessing its a fuel issue... i havent changed out my fuel pump yet, im guessing that could be a reason too. and my car was originally N/A (7mge) so maybe the stock fuel pump isnt flowing the fuel fast enough to the engine at higher rpms... could that be right?? i just dont know.. i mean the car runs fine as long as you dont step on the throttle right on, and just gradually increase on it then you feel the pull really good... but other than that im really satisfied at what this engine can do...Mods are pretty basic...custom 3" exhaust, 21x12x3 ic, 2.5" ic pipping, boost controller, and a greddy bov...

Stock injectors will be yellow on top, that's the easiest way to tell.
It's probably a mis-adjusted TPS though.

you need to change the fuel pump it could be detonation, or premature firing of the piston.

but i never touched the tps... so would that still be a probable cause???

how will you know if you have premature firing of you pistons? like are there any signs i look for to tell or since i havent been driving it for a while since then will i not see any signs???

I'd suggest getting an upgraded fuel pump. But, as mentioned, the 1jz injectors have a yellow top. I'm using the stock injectors on mine with the stock 7mgte fuel pump without any issues.

well does the 7mgte fuel pump flow out more fuel out than the 7mge??? and if so... couldnt i go with the 7mgte fuel pump??? well then again an upgraded fuel pump from driftmotion isnt all that expensive so i guess i'll go get one..

I'd just get a walbro 255lph. The 7mgte will be good. But, if you are buying one anyway, you might as well get the best. Only reason I haven't got a walbro yet is because I'm too lazy to change it out. The 7mgte is fine for me right now.

oh ok thats kool... i guess there was differences in fuel pumps... well meaning the n/a and the turbod fuel pump... well thanks man, and the rest of you guys...

ok guys this is what i found out... the fuel filter and fuel pump is the same... MEANING SAME PART #'s.... the 7mge and the 7mgte has the same part #'s for both the fuel filter and fuel pump... now my problem is why my car is hesitating really bad when i push my car... Well a friend of mine said it could be my fuel filter because my car has been sitting at home for quite a while before i dropped in the 1jz engine... now could that be a reason why my car could be acting the way it is??? i mean since its been sittin' for a while the fuel pump and filter just crapped out on me!!! could that be true??? just kind of frustrated right now because its the only thing thats wrong with my car... so i just hope i can get it fix... so anyone there please shine some light... thanks

It's entirely possible. I've seen more than a few fuel pumps stop working from extended dry periods, including 2 in my Supra.

What plugs are you using and have you checked your timing?

well that sucks... i hope it'll be ok

im using ngk's off of the mr2 turbo and my timing is set right at 0... like it responds very well it just hesitates towards higher rpms and it feels as if its fuel...

Did you mention any pops?
Mine hesitated up high because the coilpacks were cracked on the boots.

From my conversation with Bigaaron, the stock 7M-GE fuel pump is too weak for the 1JZ. That's why he's changing it with a Walbro 255 while the car is still there.
What Kyle said is likely as well. It's not to hard to pull off the coil packs and check them.

I am having absolutely no fuel related problems with my stock 7m-ge pump.

ok well i've just gotten from a friend of mine and they were still in good shape... and if so...could you explain the conversation more about the fuel pump being too weak... ok ok... maybe everyone is misunderstanding my problem... hmmm... i mean the car runs great its just towards higher rpms where fuel pressure goes down from WOT it seems that i goes down too much to where it feels like it cuts off for a split second but i dont drop out of my powerband. then after that split second instead of droping power it increases even more... but i can look over my coil packs again, but i really doubt that it'll be it because like i said i just got 'em from a friend who took really good care of them... so i hope this would kinda clear up any confusion.. i mean its not really bad thing it pulls really great like i said and all its just why does it do that around higher rpms... thanks guys again in advance....

Get a wideband or go for a run on the dyno and find out what your AFRs are at higher RPMs. That will tell you if it is a fuel related issue.
