Is it possible to upgrade the trim of the ct12's Is it really a cost effective alternative to going single? Basically make them be able to hold higher boost

search ebay. there are usually sets of 1jz twins rebuilt with steel turbines for ~1500 shipped to the US. seems like a good deal to me.

let me add, ~1500 shipped and NO core charge, warranty.
its expensive, and you won't get huge gains out of the setup with out sacrificing spool, and then for the money you might as well go single!

Not worth it.

Yea I know 1299 is a real good deal.... My twins are fine, they dont smoke. Boosts well. i dont have a boost controller. And I was told not to get one cuz I will blow the turbos. I like how they spool up though. I wanna lay down 350-375. Might as well just bite the bullet and go single I guess. Cant upgrade the twins, ct20's dont work, whats left is ct26, nitrous, or single...

Don't listen to whoever told you that.

Twins don't blow from boost, twins blow because that's just what they do.
I ran 17psi on my twins with no problems until I went single.

But would running higher boost facilitate the demise of the twins? I just came in from running with my boy in a 06 gs430. gotta good jump on him in 1st had him in second a bit once i hit third it dies..... needa go front mount!

You're not going to gain much by replacing the intercooler. You will gain a lot more by upgrading cams first (it's cheaper too)
Just ask my buddy. Both of our cars were stock JZA70s, both had intake and exhaust. His had intercooler, mine had cams. Mine ran 4 tenths faster in the 1/4

definitely dont waste your money upgrading the twins. for the same cost you can go single. and even if you aren't going for big power, a single will be more reliable. definitely dont put on a ct26, your car will never be fast. and dont put on nitrous unless you are using it solely to spool a mammoth turbo, otherwise your car will only be fast when you're spraying. just go single. its the most logical alternative to stock.

Hmmm so why I keep reading threads about how the ct26 can run 400hp.... ????

ct26 can only go 400hp if it's upgraded. for the price of an upgraded ct26, you can get a nice single for a little bit more.

so would i be losing hp if i were to swap the stock twins for the stock ct26 from my 7m, it has 0 shaft play...

Its dam expensive - almost every bit of $1500 to rebuild and install steel turbines.

If spool is so important you could always get a GT30 high A/R equivalent.. you'll never know what lag is. Many 1J drivers use them in aussieland.. Personally, I believe that the power potential is a little lower than what I want, but cant argue with the power delivery.

just wondering about the comparison between the ct26 and twins, because i am looking to start my 1j swap within the next few months, and money is an issue, and i would like to keep and use my almost brand new titan dp..
so what do you guys think, stock twins or stock ct26 which will eventually be upgraded?

yea i wouldn't really go the CT route unless you have a good solid Upgraded CT26 on your 7M or something already. its not really worth it if you don't. just wait and save and do it right

i would also go with a small single turbo, don't waste money on the ct26 or upgraded stock twins you may not like it. but what are your power goals?

only if there's a vendor that can rebuild these damn pea shooters for a reasonable price yes I would consider a rebuild. But since no one is stepping up to the plate, then you best go single like most already said.

Im looking for 350 at the wheels but I think i should be able to handle 400 :biglaugh: I can get a ebay kit for 850 shipped all I need is a manifold so say 1050. Then get a dp welded. Or theres the XS power kit for 1399
