Well got to start with the story. Pick it up in Chicago, Il on 10/4/07 for $1100. Motor has a blowen piston ring on #6. Had a friend that drove semi meet me at the airport to go and pick up the supra. Drove the 8 Hrs. home and put it into the garage. Plans well dont know yet but a 1jz in in order, i have blowen up like 6 or 7 7m engines in the past so no more.
Here is a link to the parts needed http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55545 I will keep updating it.

Here is pics. picking up in Chicago.

Also got the engine out!!! I dont know witch way to go? 1jz or have this 7m built. 1jz clip $3000, to have 7m built with turbo will be around $2500+i also would want a FFIM:)

Well this was like my 8th time I have done it but took me 2.5 hrs. on Friday night befor the major beer drinking took over, and 2 hrs, Sat. and a case of beer (optional:sarcasm: ) for a total of 4.5 - 5 hrs. and one hell of a hang over sat. morning. I also took out the tranny with it.

And im running the # on the 7m build and it would be less then $500 to have a guy Bore&Hone,, hot dip, Balance Rotating Assy, Assemble short Block. SO for less $2000 i can have a bomb proof lower end:) so im leaning more on 7m and no re-wiring in the 1jz.

Looks to be in good shape, I like the carbon fiber targa idea for hiding some bad paint spots. Also some brake clean cointaining acetone will pull that paint off good too. And I think you'd be better suited for 1jz but you don't need a clip, get the engine and tranny, and then just do your intercooler piping and intake mods while you got everything out because you'll eventually do it anyway.

Switch is to replace mine since the white paint is worn off. now just need to get some gauges to fill them.

is that direct fit to our supra's?where did you get it from?

10-24-2007, 07:25 PM
You've got a nice platform to build on. I would keep it 7M. Get it done right and you shouldn't have problems. There are 7M success stories and I'm hoping mine will be one of them. Grey FTW!

15 wires isn't much rewiring, but to each their own. Just make sure when you are done, that you are happy with what you did.

I am leaning towards the 7m now just because 1jz front clips are around $3000-3300 shipped to my house.

ovenrude
10-25-2007, 10:23 PM
To the best of my knowledge 1jz front clips are not even legal to import anymore.

I know that Jarco had to send all the 1jz front clips they had back when customs came in and laid the smackdown on them. I'd assume any more being sent in would have a hard time clearing customs.

Not sure why it would matter if the engine has a front end of a car attached to it, but whatever. Maybe they were worried about people welding two half cars together and ghetto ridin' :)

That was what i was planing on was reselling them for cheep since the new pair i bought for $50,:aigo: to some one for a conversion. But once i started to remove the old ones, the previous owner had siliconed the whole thing into place. Im guessing so they dont rattel. I dont know why.:icon_evil The passenger one is in a million pieces, the center on is good, I havent removed the drivers side yet but it is also glued the fuck in. So if anything i will have the center piece left over.

LOL :biglaugh: weld two fronts of supras together. Customs might have something to do with it because a couple places i called that used to have clips like 2 years ago dont even carry a one any more. Also i see the price of them went sky hi.

I bet you it is because they have lead paint in them and are afraid of having them recalled. JK

I did that to my last 89 i build and the radio sucked ass. So this time i am going to stay factory.:icon_bigg. also i dont want a hole or filler color untell i paint the car. Maybe when it comes time to repaint, and that kind of funn stuff, i will remove it, fill in the hole and try the shaved antenna again. By the way is that your green 02 GIXXER?

Well i talked to a long time friend (ya he builds v8's not inline 6's) and said ""felpro is the bast". Are they, i dont know, but i will take his work that they are good.

And to answer the question about MHG. Yes MHG, I will be going with 1.2mm HKS. I have used them (3 differnt ones on differnt engines) and I have had good luck with them so i will stay with what work for me, unless the sky falls.

11-09-2007, 10:23 AM
ide go with a thicker MHG for lower compression. i have a 1.4 with a decked head abd block and im seeing 180 psi. compression. i will be doing a 2.0mm in the future.

Well pics. of parts that came in the mail today
Fuse cover

And new battery terminals. The + side has a voltage gauge instaled into it. werd.

And my cat i guess thinks the beer box is his new play house.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc231/92nsx/S5001282.jpg

And well the engine is off to the shop. The owner Jim Hall happened to be passing by, gave me a call, and picked it up for me. (now i wont need to put the 7m in the back of my caddy and get it all full of oil.) we talked about the balancing, and he said it all will be with a 1/4 gram. :aigo: Jim also said i should be able to put 25-30 lbs. of boost to the motor when he is done. (thats with a t-78, t-88, or a gt42 turbo of corse)
I asked about my head and he said #1 intake valve insert( part where the valve head seals to the head) fell out. That valve sits lower then all the rest. His labor would be $550 for a compleat rebuild:cry: . That seams to be a high price, is it? If i want to install 1mm larger valves, ss springs, Brian Crower cams would be all extra. This means to rebuild the head right its going to be like $1500:aigo: :aigo: :aigo: :aigo: We will look more at that around tax return time.

Tonight i am installing the lowering springs and they are kicking ass.

Well not so much a update but some pics. More $$ is going to x-mas gifts instead of the supra.
Also cold weather has set in and snow is flying so it is kind of hard to get motivated to heat the garage, and work on the car.

VSV from tubbie along with a altenator harness that needs to be sliced into the car.

Here is what the Gf got me for x-mas

Pic of gauges with lights off and no camera flash. As you can see the middle gauge (boost) dosent work:3d_frown:  :nono:
